Re: The STAR WARS MONTHLY MONDAY Thread

Like real life is continuity. Stories that don't match up at all in real life - there are many. Different points of view, no witnesses, people are all wasted - never any way to get a straight story in our reality there is. In Star Wars world why shouldn't it be so too, hm? One world- many different...

Re: The STAR WARS MONTHLY MONDAY Thread

Note to Chris: We need to do an AOTC commentary ASAP. I would look forward to your takes on AotC; I remember really liking it in theaters but it definitely has plenty of faults after more viewings. I always liked the second half much more - Obi v. Jango, the Arena battle versus the monsters, the ar...

Re: The STAR WARS MONTHLY MONDAY Thread

I throw in my two quatloos for release order, as well. Although I do intend to watch in numerical order when the blu-rays come out, so we'll see -- but, honestly, I'm so familiar with all six films at this point, I can't objectively pretend I'll be "following the saga as it unfolds." I ha...

Re: The STAR WARS MONTHLY MONDAY Thread

@rd666 - In regards to the Star Wars EU, it is pretty open ended with only a few segments/issues put off limits by Lucas at different point in time. In fact, I think a lot of the creators prefer working at either end of the timeline instead of cramming more stuff around the film periods. @ljacone - ...

Comicpalooza - Houston Comic Con May 27-29, 2011

Last year, I went to this Con on Sunday and picked up a pile of back issues I was looking for and plan to go for at least the whole day on Saturday this year.

If anyone is going, I'd love to meet up; we can grab some good food afterwards.

Re: The STAR WARS MONTHLY MONDAY Thread

Because this was a lot of Star Trek talk for the Star Wars thread I posted a video of Kirk's Bad-assery from ST:V in the STMM thread:

An oldie but a goodie...

Ok, since the Trek talk was getting hot and heavy on the Star Wars thread I decided to post this here. You've probably all seen it but it bears watching again:

Re: HHW 214 - Half Hour Wasted - Episode 214

The most important question about this episode or the previous: what beer are you drinking? 99% of the time, I drink Miller Lite. That's what we were having this episode. Last time I was in DFW I toured the Rahr and Sons Brewery in Fort Worth and their beer is soooooo good. Get a sixer of theirs so...

Re: The STAR WARS MONTHLY MONDAY Thread

Count me in the camp that loooooooooved Lost and the Finale. Just for the record. In regards to ST:V, I haven't watched it since I was a kid but I did recently watch ST:IV and to me it definitely doesn't hold up as much as I remember. It get's kudos for being the closing part of the ST 'trilogy' but...

Re: What Are You Listening To . . . Right Now?

I picked up the Johnny Cash 'At San Quentin: Legacy Edition' Saturday and I am sad it took me this long to pick it up. I have 'At Folsom Prison' and 'At Madison Square Garden'; ASQ's setlist is more similar to AMSG but the band/musicality is tighter in ASQ then either AFP or AMSG. I also picked up s...

Re: The STAR WARS MONTHLY MONDAY Thread

Don't let it unravel it then. Along with my two scenarios above, add a third, which omits the cartoon. I loved the original cell animated series of clone wars, which simply can not fit in with everything else, but its not going to stop me from enjoying it. I think as I get older the idea of super r...

Re: The STAR WARS MONTHLY MONDAY Thread

Just watched the final two episodes of this season's "The Clone Wars" and I must say that as much as I enjoyed them, it finally happened... CW finally (kinda) pissed me off. How could they kill off Even Piell?! That completely fucks up the "Coruscant Nights" books, one of THE be...

Re: Episode 181 - The Video Game Episode

Longtime listner to the show, great episode guys! I am too young to have experienced most of the generation of video games y'all referenced at first as I was born in 1984. That being said, my first console at home was the NES and I loved it. I got Super Mario 3 for either my 5th or 6th birthday and ...

Re: What Are You Listening To . . . Right Now?

I picked up Broken Bells, the Gaslight Anthem and the latest Corrine Bailey Rae. I love it when the Amazon 'Best of the Year . . . So Far' list comes out. It gives me ideas on new stuff I haven't heard or tried before.

Re: What Books Are You Reading

Did you ever get around to reading The Terror? I read the Terror last year. It was pretty good but I thought it had a week final act. I recently finished the Lost City of Z. If you want to read a good history/adventure book with themes of obsession (similar to Into Thin Air) then I definitely recom...

Re: HHW Episode 180 Talkback

Bill, I also recently bought my wife an easreader but I got her the Kindle. I bought it two weeks before they lowered the price to $189 (in response to the Nook price reduction). I wrote an email to customer service at Amazon and in two hours they had processed a $70 refund. It can't hurt to ask rig...
