Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

I like Legion but that doesn't justify the abortion that Spurrier has created around him and I also agree that Chamber loses a lot without Bachalo. Likewise Skin and Synch, really, which explains why they got rid of them, though I think Chamber was always a better character than they were. Bachalo d...

Re: All New X-Men

SPOILERS FOR NEW ISSUE This issue was only okay. I was expecting something a lot more interesting from Mystique. I know we don't know her whole plan yet but for being 2/3s of the issue i don't think she said that much. And the whole wedding invitation device didn't do anything for me. Jean already ...

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

he is but you can't avoid being an immortal piece of x-men history when you're in the first issue scripted by chris claremont AND you make frequent appearances on the uncanny x-cast

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

Nefaria's not even the best X-Cast character! Stan Lee and Captain Britain could both kick his ass.

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

pre-Claremont everyone was two-dimensional, for the sake of this discussion i've been taking into account each character's whole history, not just the part of the run being discussed mainly i'm interested in what it takes to create a character that will last, not so much who wrote who the best, that...

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

In all seriousness, I have a big affinity for Pixie. Although let's switch this up, who is the best character created pre Claremont? much as i would like to say it's banshee or polaris or someone less obvious, it's probably magneto, storm, or wolverine. boring answers but what are you gonna do they...

Re: All New X-Men

There were a lot of great books released this week; many of them some of the best comic work I've seen in years. And this issue is the best of the bunch. :) Tough call, Wolvie and the X-Men was fantastic this week too. All-New had by far the better plot and the bigger impact, but I thought WatXM's ...

Re: The jump from casual. Good starting point.

...All-New and Wolverine&theX-Men until Uncanny X-Men launches early next year. then you'll have your three books worth reading. ^ Yep, this. If you're talking about a current ongoing to follow, this is definitely the way to go. With Wolverine And The X-Men, you get the core team, the school, t...

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

I think Layla's been thoroughly ruined at this point. She was only good pre-messiah complex. I guess I can't really argue with Beak, you either like what Morrison was doing with him or you don't. I was fine with him as long as he was just a student, but once we started getting full-on Special Class ...

Re: Essential X-Men Stories for Beginners

I'm pretty sure Brian recommended on the show reading Giant Size, then skipping to Dark Phoenix (i would throw in days of future past at this point too), then skipping to From the Ashes, then Mutant Massacre. That's pretty much what I would recommend too. So that would be GSXM #1, UXM #129-137, 141,...

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

Negasonic Teenage Warhead...nuff said. :) I've gotta say, it speaks to the strength of the character that she died in her first appearance and has been in like a dozen issues since. :P Now that they've gone to all the trouble to develop this Blindfold/Destiny thing though, I think the mutant precog...

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

Byrne co-wrote the issue but I believe Lee and Portacio are credited with the character. But I'm not really talking about specific creators so much as a specific time period, and I happened to draw the line at when Claremont left the company, because that seemed like the most dramatic shift in X-his...

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

Bishop. I've been a big fan of the character since his introduction. I'm pretty disappointed in how the character has been handled lately though. I'm hoping that his reintroduction to the current Marvel timeline will see a turnaround. I specifically didn't mention Bishop because he was technically ...

Re: Best characters created post-Claremont?

is it now the fault of the audience not embracing Frenzy as a legitimate x-man? or is it the fault of the writers for not giving us something worth attaching to? I think there are too many counter-arguments for blaming the audience to hold any weight. If you need popular characters to sell a book, ...

Best characters created post-Claremont?

I was bored at work the other day and trying to think of any X-men that I actually liked that weren't created before or during Claremont's run, and found it distressingly difficult. When you go through the top 20 or so most popular characters in the franchise, not a single one was introduced in the ...

Re: All New X-Men

Agreed. Cyclops is a badass here. And I know I haven't read a lot of him, but I quite like Beast, I know he takes a lot of shit on here and maybe ill see why when I catch up but I like him. Don't know why I just do. people only hate on current beast because he used to be an actual superhero and now...
