Mid Season Start for this show from producer J.J. Abrams. The show looks pretty awesome and includes Jorge Garcia and Sam Neil.

I was a bit iffy on it(which you'll hear on Thursday's episode of LOD) but after seeing that trailer yesterday I'm actually really excited by it.

Hmmmm, I love Alcatraz, and enjoy most things (movies, shows, etc) that involve it.

But at the same time I am one of those folks that gave up on Lost during season 3 because I got sick of 97% questions and 3% answers. I have the feeling that this could follow that same (Abrams) model.......

I guess if we get it "down under" I will give it a shot.

Abrams had much much less to do with LOST than people think. He created and directed the pilot, but after the first season I think he only directed about three more episodes as a guest director and that was it. It was much more Damon Lindelof's(and later Carlton Cuse's) baby.

Fair enough, like I said as long as it doesn't fall into that same mold of more questions than answers.

Well then I'd have faith in him. Fringe has been pretty consistent with answering the questions it presents before or during the times it asks new ones.

So it hasn't actually aired in the States yet?

We just started getting ads for it here and I thought that was reasonable, given the show is starting in a month or so, but you are saying that they were pimping this 8 months before it airs?!

Oh well, let me know what you think when you see it.

Well, they weren't really pimping it too much until recently, Adam and I just happen to follow this kind of news very closely and that's why we knew about it so early. I think I started seeing ads on Hulu for it about a month ago.

I haven't seen all the episodes yet, I need to watch 4 more. Very upset with FOX again. This show was really starting to pick up steam. Maybe Netflix will pick it up.

It was also really starting to lose viewers and money.

I am as sad as the next person that this got cancelled and would love to jump on the "Fox-Hate" bandwagon, but Brad/John made a good point on the latest (last?) episode of Podcatraz, and that is that it is so easy for us (fans of a certain show) to get up in how great we think that it is, but neglect the reality that we are in the minority. As great as we think the show was, unfortunately when you look at it objectively it wasn't a profitable exercise for Fox to continue.

And if I am going to be brutally honest, I can see why it never got off the ground, as much as I loved the show and think it had a heap of potential, there were a heap of eye rolling moments each week, that I would over look just because I was giving the show the "benefit of the doubt". Example include how Soto was able to identify the inmate each week, the fact that every time they cut from the mainland to the "Batcave" represented a 30 min ferry trip, the need to look at each inmates box each week, the ability to identify a neighborhood from one photo of a front porch, etc, etc.

Don't get me wrong I did enjoy the show, and I am sad it is gone. Here's hoping 1 of 2 things happens (both of which Brad and John mentioned):

1. Story can be continued/finished in another medium, comics specifically
2. Someone from the show comes out and says "Hey guys, here is where we WERE going and here are the answers and directions we had in mind from the start...."
