Top Chef - Season 7 (DC)

Postby kwoktalk » Thu Jul 01, 2010 1:24 pm

Who's watching?!

Last season was a GREAT season and so far recent history would argue that Top Chef seems to follow up a great season with a ho-hum season (I’m looking at YOU season 5!). But so far, I’m digging it more for the drama elements that are building. Angelo vs. Kenny (I’m on Team Kenny), the inter-team sniping, feeding alcohol to the kiddies, so far it’s looking good!

The Kenny vs Angelo battle should be quite good. They both seem like fantastic chefs (minus the celery sticks).

Angelo just seems Obnoxious, I am definitely pulling for kenny in this battle, But i don't think any season can rate compared to the calibur of chef that was last year. It seems that everyone last season was Either a Beard Winner, Nominee, or a michelin star chef.

Episode 3: Capitol Grill
-How random was Amanda’s drug habit admission? Totally just brought up that she was hopped up on drugs in her 20’s and then never elaborated on or brought back up again. (On some website’s recap, I read a hilarious comment about how she’s the one that’s been using alcohol in her dishes and how that takes on another level now knowing this.)
-I was really glad to see Kenny finally win something and it was even more nice to see Angelo get his win streak broken.
-Gail Simmons is totally one of my favorite judges on the show and I loved it when she busted Kevin for not being creative enough with his dish.
-How hilarious would it have been if the bird’s poop had actually landed in someone’s food?
-I simultaneously love Ed’s biting comments towards the other contestants and can’t stand him at the same time. He reminds me of Nic Cage.

I think that this season will be a good one. I hated last season and Top Chef Masters was a disappointment to me this year. The winner should not have won and the winner from last season Rick Bayless is my fave chef of all time. My dream is to eat at Frontina Grill in Chicago when I visit later this year.

OK, so I watched the latest episode and I think that getting rid of the team that made clack squid pasta was fair, they did not understand the challenge and screwed it up big time. What did you guys think?
