Babylon 5, I can't get past the first episode of Season 1...

Postby Trusty Mutsi » Fri Aug 27, 2010 11:20 pm

The captain is overly smooth, the acting of pretty much everyone is bad, I can't see how this dialogue comes outta JMS, and the SFX is pretty bad (although I can get past that).

I liked the dialgue in the rock garden, and the makeup effects are good.

Does this show get better? I'm hoping a LOT better? Cause right now it's pretty bad :(

Stick it out. This show is in my top 5 of Science Fiction shows. The 1st and last season are by far the weakest. Second season starts off strong with a new Captain, but pay attention to the 1st season as there are storyline tidbits that are important and get resolved in the later seasons.

I've watched the next two episodes, and it's almost night and day. The wooden robot-like second in command has been replaced, the plot's interesting, and the SFX and dialog's better. I liked the old doctor better though :(

In "Soul Hunter", was she letting the souls die at the end, or releasing them? Or is it up to us to decide?

Still haven't watched it, but will probably give it a shot soon.

Loved this show. I need to rewatch it because I have not seen it in a few years.

It's been such a long time since I've watched that I can't remember any character names . . . but you know the guy with the big hair, the one who looks like Bozo the Clown without make up? Yeah . . . he looks like Bozo the Clown without make up :)

Stick it out, the cliffhangers at the end of the first 3 seasons are awesome. Great show, best single scifi narrative ever put on TV.

A slave who forever rocks,
Is chained in the devil's locks,
And slain by the bloody axe I wail!"

I've always liked this show but it definitely changes as it goes through. I imagine it's as the actors get to know each other they can be more convincing and the network gives you more money for effects when they see an audience they can get ad revenue from. I may be biased though, I have all of it. TV Series, films, I lack little figurines to stick to my monitor with blu-tac but I can live without them.

It's slow going at first but it does pick up. I forget when Commander Susan Ivanova comes in but she's a great second-in-command and one of my favorite characters on the show. I very much liked Commander Sinclair but Captain Sheridan is also very cool. Season 2 is when things really pick up though. Seasons 3 & 4 are fantastic and season 5 is fair in my opinion. It's been awhile since I've seen the show but I did really enjoy it.
