Old School Rap and Hip-Hop

Postby Steeven » Mon Oct 11, 2010 11:00 am

I was in an Old School mood while on the way home from work last night.

It's a short drive home, but here was my set list:

I Can't Live Without My Radio - LL Cool J
Run's House - Run/DMC
Me, Myself, and I - De La Soul
The Show - Dougie Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew
Night of the Living Base Heads - Public Enemy

Who likes Old School?

What do you like?

Myself, I never got into Gangsta Rap but have always loved stuff like the above as well as Digital Underground, Del the Funky Homosapien (though I've only got Mistadobalina), Beastie Boys, 3rd Base (I only have Pop Goes the Weasel), and a Tribe Called Quest (I only have Scenario and I Lost My Wallet in el Segundo).

I was just listening to the Run DMC cover of Walk This Way this morning.

I love me some old school rap.

Run-DMC continues to be in heavy rotation on my iPod.

Sugar Hill Gang's Rapper's Delight is prolly my favorite rap song of all time. That song's always in my head.

I recently rediscovered The Choice Is Yours by Black Sheep thanks to a commercial on TV.

I'm not sure what the commercial was for, I heard it from the other room.

I love old school rap. Pretty much gave up on Rap in about 1994.
