Official Martial Arts Thread

Postby kilg%re » Fri Aug 20, 2010 10:32 am

Thought I'd start a thread for anyone who studies
What do you study? How long? That kind of thing, but lets not get into "my style's better than yours" and all that old cobblers

I started waaay back in '84 with Judo untill '94 when I switched to Kickboxing. Then in 2000 I started KFM. now myself and my instructor have set off on our own taking the concept of JKD and combining elements from stuff we've learnt along with new stuff we're learning now such as Doce Pares, a form of Filipino stick fighting.

I'm a life long student of Tae Kwon Do and an Aikidoka since 1994. The school of Aikido I had studied under was led by Black Belt Hall of Famer & Olympic Gold-medal Judoka Karl Geis, who had studied under the legendary Judoka & Aikidoka Sensei Tomiki.

Not bad we've actually started a womens self defence class now which has a few people coming along. Although it's not about the money it would be great to teach full time, but that's not going to happen just yet.

I always wanted a Dojo with a lift in it like Duncan had in the Highlander Show :)

I've been studying Tang Soo Do since '98.
Took about 5 years or so off but have been getting back into it this past 1 1/2 years.
It's actually where I met The Pamp who is a regular on this forum and CGS's forum as well.
