Top 5 Favorite Wrestlers of all Time

Postby Johnny M » Thu Jul 15, 2010 9:18 am

I know we have a lot of Pro Wrestling fans here from back in the day and currently. Who are your top 5 favorite Wrestlers of all time?

I haven't watched in at least 6 years, but here is my list in no particular order:

Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka- He was my guy as a kid. Never really got to be a big time champ. High flying stuff was way ahead of its time.

The Great Muta- He would show up in WCW every once in a while. Awesome. Face paint, mist spitting. Crazy ass moonsault off the ropes. Loved him.

Ric Flair- Hated him as a kid. Grew to appreciate him later for obvious reasons.

Rob Van Dam- Used to go to ECW independent shows before they were bough by WWF. He was the man.

Sid Vicious- He was a bad man.One of the worst live injuries I have ever seen.

1. Arn Anderson No Gimmicks, No BS, black trunks and a Can of Whuppass.
2. The American Dream Dusty Rhodes "The tower of power to sweet to be sour, make you say HAW like Jerry Clower" Could cut a promo like nobodies business (now in later years, I've learn his behind the scenes stuff was subpar, but in front of the camera, top notch)
3. Ric Flair More charisma in his little finger than most have in their whole bodies. Hated him when he was bad and loved him when he was good.
4. Big Van Vader A moonsault for a cat 300+ pounds? Awesome.
5. Sting Always a soft spot for Sting.
Thanks to Trusty Mutsi for the avatar.

My top five tie directly with ones I've met

1. Scott Hall - After my family moved from Florida, he was drunk driving (surprise) on Red Bug Lake Road. He crashed through the wall and landed his car halfway into the pool at our former house.

2. Kurt Angle - I won front row seats to Smack Down! in Pittsburgh when I was home one summer from school. A week later, they said I won the grand prize in a drawing. From that, I got to go to a Pirate's game and sit in the owner's box along with Kurt who threw out the opening pitch to promote the show. It was very cool and memorable. I brought my buddies and my Dad along with me. At the Smack Down! taping, Kurt won the title from Booker T. during the Invasion storyline. You can see me help Kurt win the title at 4:50 ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPDIoYrsWCg

3. Captain Lou - Ran into him in front of The Living Seas at EPCOT Center one summer. Nice guy.

4. Diamond Dallas Page & Macho Man Randy Savage - When I was interning at the Howard Stern station, I answered phones, etc. During the Russ and Bo Show with Dirty Jim, DDP came in to promote Kimberly's appearance in Playboy. Um. Wow. I met MMRSavage a few months later. Intense dude.

5. The American Dream Dusty Rhodes - Best interviewer of all-time

6. Shockmaster - 'Nuff said.

Chris Benoit - Never a disappointment. The match between he and Steamboat was fantastic. Everything he does is great.
Chris Benoit - Yes, he killed his family and himself, but his ring work was simply the best ever.
RVD - New style, innovative, a huge fan fave. Too bad nobody gives him a chance just on his skills. He gets dumped because of his mic skills or his after hours habits.
Arn Anderson - A great worker and amazing on the mic. I miss his type of wrestler
CM Punk - Great talent and hopefully more like him make it into the WWE and get used all the right ways like Punk has.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts - He was the first actual wrestler that I specifically "liked"
Big Boss Man - Dude had a night stick!!
Davy Boy Roberts (British Bulldog) - I just like this guy.
The LOD - That is the Legion of DOOM. If you are unfamiliar, look at Poozer71's Avatar. These guys wore footbal pads with massive spikes on them. The first time I saw hem I was still pretty young and thought, "Holy Crap! They are allowed to wrestle with those things on?!"
Finally - Shawn Michaels - I am talking about the SM of the early 90's, I know he kicked on for a fair while after that. He was a great wrestler, in fantastic shape., but what I liked about him was an interview I read once where he was to talk about what he did "out of character". He spoke about wresting as being sports "sports entertainment", this was the first time I heard that phrase and I thouhgt that it summed up what he did perfectly.

Honourable mentions - Hulk Hogan, "Hacksaw" Jim Dugan (HOOOOOOOOO!!!), Jim "The Anvil" Hart, Ric Flair (Again based on the Royal Rumble he won, when he came in as the 3rd man), Sid Justice (Dude was massive!!) and I am sure there are more if I think about it.
BE EXCELLENT TO ONE ANOTHER......

No order

Shawn Michaels.- He can have a good match with anyone
CM Punk- The guy just has it. And his series of matches with Samoa Joe in RoH were awsome
Kurt Angle- Again Can carry anyone to a great match
Dean Melanko-NWO got me back into wrestling but it was Dean and the cruisers that kept me there
Brian Danileson- the best wrestler in the world. Never seen a bad Dragon match

Honarble mentions "mr Perfect" Curt henning, Scott Hall, Dynamite Kid, and Eddie Guerrero
