What Have You Done?

Postby Steeven » Wed Jun 30, 2010 11:45 am

I may have posted this before over the the Comic Forums, but I find it interesting to see all the various things people have done in their lives through the different jobs they've had.

OK, here goes.

I've delivered newspapers.

I've babysat children.

I've mowed lawns.

I've flipped burgers.

I've created sub sandwiches.

I've bussed tables.

I've washed dishes

I've delivered mail.

I've sold comics.

I've ran paper through a machine that was a small part of the process of creating junk mail.

I've delivered pizzas.

I've created medical tubing.

I've answered questions over the phone about Federal Student Aid.

I've supervised employees.

I've created employee schedules.

I've forecasted staffing needs.

I've entered hundreds of orders for garage doors.

I've coordinated the installation of hundreds of garage doors.

I've helped people over the phone put up their garage doors.

I've trained employees.

I've created training manuals.

What have you done?

I've processed film.

I've printed pictures.

I've ran a register at a drug store.

I've faced product on shelves.

As far as things I've done for money? ;) Ok....lets just stick with the jobs I've had in order of appearance

-Delivered news papers (first job. I think I was like...10)
-High school science lab assistant (I worked for my science teacher. I ended up w/ a 114% in that class by the end of the year.
-Grocery store
• bagger (double suck)
• cashier (suck)
• build displays (actually a fun high school job)
-Telemarketing (I worked this job for 3 days until the tig bitty chick who sat next to me quit. Then I was out)
-Took hotel reservations (I spent most of my time here reading comics & drawing)
-Retail dude in a record store (I was never cool enough for this job)
-Bindery (my first ever job in a print shop...putting books together)
-Sculptor (I worked w/ a crew or artists to carve, sculpt & paint all the rocks and environments in the Desert Dome at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo (go to www.omahazoo.com to see the Dome and what's in it)
-Chemical sprayer guy for a lawn company (Oh god this job sucked ass)
-Warehouse manager (this was a fun, unsupervised position for a 20 year old to have)
-Graphic Designer (Ahhh....the "career" finally sets in)
-Power Washer (weekends gig where I sprayed the filth off of garbage tucks & derailed trains. great money...but totally disgusting)
-Office Manager (basically an organizer for a terribly unorganized video production company)
-Retail dude at a now closed comic book store (work'n for trade baby!!)
-Free Lance graphic design (I actually hate freelance design. People suck)
-Cook (I <3 food)
-Bar-back (another suck ass job but at least it payed good & was at a big dance club with lots of scantily clad 21-25 year old women)
-Graphics Department Supervisor (basically just means that when shix goes wrong...you're the first person they yell at) (oh...also means you work a LOT of OT)
-Flatter (getting paid to work in the comic book business rules! Even if it is in the trenches of flatting)

Wow...that's a lot. For the record...I've had the (full time) job I have now for 4 years. and the job before that was over 3.
