Listener Dennis Pu joins us in studio to talk about the movie.

I'm listening now. I'm very interested to hear you talk about your take on the movie Brad and to see what everyone else thought. (yeah, I know, you posted your opinion already, but I hope you go into a bit more detail in audio form. :) )

Ugh...I can never walk out of a movie or stop watching a movie I've rented. Can't do it. Good or bad, I have to watch the whole thing.

This has got to be funny. Did Frank and Bill both see it?

It was a lot of fun being on the show. Brad, Frank and Bill have such a good rapport. I felt like a monkey wrench. :)

Being in the "studio" was wild. I'm a tech guy who loves audio equipment, so seeing the gear they use was pretty cool. LOTS of pleasant distractions from kids and animals. The show stayed surprisingly on track!

Just wanted to say again that I liked Inception, even if most of my notes were critical of it. I thought the acting and casting were perfectly fine. The action and SFX shots were lots of fun. And I really liked how the heist part of the plot played out. I just felt the movie was disjointed thematically, and I had a couple of nitpicks that prevented me from wanting to think too much about the sci-fi elements of the movie.

Like Brad, I had no expectations going into the movie. Didn't even know Leonardo DiCaprio was in it. But the movie's opening scenes set a certain tone and expectation that I thought the body of the movie didn't really address directly very much. Having seen the movie now, I wonder if seeing it again with the proper expectations might change my mind about it.

I asked my dad to give our son a chinese name, and it sounds like "Pluto" or "Plutonium", depending on how you choose to say it.

Alex's chinese name literally means "humble", which sounds like "pluto". "Humble person" sounds sort of like "plutonium". The effective, figurative meaning is "down to earth" or "every man".

Pluto is a riff on Neptune, and the atomic symbol for Plutonium is "Pu", our last name. My dad blew his own mind coming up with that one. :)

1. I pronounce it Nuggie (rhymes with buggy) but you can call me noogie or newgie or RJ Ray Jay, don't matter to me.
2. I hash tagged the tweet with Gary Mule Deer, who is the comedian who originally told the Grampa joke. It's a favorite of mine.

Pretty good review show, I was impressed by how you were able to stay on topic.

Haven't seen but want to, I saw Salt, which I guess it beat (according to Frank) and Salt was horrible, it was a Bourne movie with breasts and a weaker plot.

The way you talk about the ending, it makes me think of Total Recall where you were left with the question of was it real or was it more implanted memory of a trip type deal. Also, I think Brad tweeted about this movie being remade which is very disappointing.

The last movie I wanted to walk out on was The Last Airbender but I was there with my Nephews and they wanted to see it, so I didn't but then after the movie, I found out that 10 and 8 year olds wanted to walk out on this film.

I think the Sci Fi movie to beat this year is going to be Adjustment Bureau starring Matt Damon and Terrance Stamp.

Hey Frank, thanks for the shout out and letting me know that I had won!!

I am not a very creative guy, so if I gave you a voice mail message to record, it would simply be "Hi, you have reached the Reaveys, we can't come to the phone....blah, blah, blah"

I am happy to throw it open to the Geeks or to yourself to come up with some wacky crazy idea for a VM message.

Failing that, a standard "Hey, how you doin? Sorry you can't get through. Why don't you leave your name and your number and we'll get back to you....."

Thanks Frank, I love the show!

I finally watched the movie.

I submit that we NEVER saw the real world and the entire movie was in the dream state. I submit that his wife was correct, they were still dreaming, and when she killed herself she did wake up and go back to their children.

I believe this because early on, in our first meeting with Michael Caine, he said "Come back to reality."

Leo's character never left the dream state. Everyone else was either a projection keeping him there, or parts of him trying to help him find his way out (Caine, wife). The spinning top would fall over because, as his wife said "You don't know you're dreaming."

He thought he was in the real world, so the top acted as if it was. Hence the flaw in the totem concept. As long as you either think you are in a dream or are open to the idea you are in a dream, you can control things in some way, like keeping the top spinning. If you really believe you are in the real world, the things act "normal" (i.e. the top will fall).

Brad, it sounds like you left just when it got good. The best part of it was following the three (four?) different stories happening, linking the reactions of one from the actions in another.

Overall I liked it and will watch it again on Blu ray.

I really enjoyed the film, and with the totem concept here is what i got from it.

Whilst in a dream that you don't realize you are in, you don't notice the weird stuff going on, whilst in the dream everything seams normal. The totem is something you make and no the exact attributes about it. For example Caprio's character know that the spinning top has to full, hence if it doesn't he's in a dream. Again with the guy out of 500 day of summer, he has a loaded dice, so if it doesn't land on the number he has it loaded to, it's a dream. You can't let anyone touch it, after that its compromised cuz they might have done something to it.

I know its long, but thats my take on it.

I think then that its not a dream at the end, this is because the totem wobbles and looks like its gonna fall. This could be argued because the totem belonged to his wife, she locked it away and might have done something to it, but who knows.

As you can tell i really liked this film and this doesn't happen to me a lot (Only Star Wars and a few other classics come to mind) but I was clinging on the films every breath. The music, the emotion and the way it was filmed just dragged me into it.

I have only seen it once and can't wait for the Blu-ray.

Oh yeah and great show btw, love listening to it every week.
