What is your Favorite Single Issue? Marvel? DC? Other?

Postby Adam » Thu Jul 15, 2010 12:49 pm

What is your favorite single comic book issue for Marvel, DC, Other?

For Marvel-

Winter Soldier: Winter Kills One-Shot - By Ed Brubaker
Image

Love this One-Shot it is about Bucky Barnes trying to come to terms with the events of the Winter Soldier Story Arc and familiarize himself with the current day. This came out right before the death of captain america.

For DC-

Detective Comics #826 Slayride - By Paul Dini and and Don Kramer
Image

This was a wonderful issue of detective comics that barely involves Batman at all. In this story the Joker takes Robin (Tim Drake) Hostage and drives him around Gotham trying to mow down people with Robin tied up in the seat next to him. It was written by Paul Dini and it is a really edge of your seat issue!

Our Army at War #295

It's the Bicentennial issue (Cover date Aug. 1976) The Joe Kubert cover is a grizzled Sgt. Rock in front of 76, and Bicentennial logo, an eagle, etc. The first story goes like this:
Easy Company is setting up camp. Rock wanders out in the forest. He ends up in a pristine area of forest, enjoying nature. As he's drinking from a little pond, he sees a German behind him reflected in the water. They fight, killing the German and several animals as they destroy this little area of the forest. Sarge walks away sad. Powerful stuff.

Backups are a Sgt. York bio and a Sergio Aragones Gag strip. Good stuff.

Not a big Marvel reader. How bout an Issue of Marvels. Pick one. Busiek wrote a good book there, and Ross made it pretty.

Hmmmmm.....Marvel I can do.

Image

This issue made me both feel the Death of Steve Rodgers and see what Tony Stark's war real cost was than ANY comic before.

DC I'll have to work on.

A great one and done issue in the middle of Garth's epic Punisher run.

I don't know how to do the cover thing, But recently my favorite One issue is JMS's Brave and the Bold, I think it is 33 with Wonderwoman, Zatanna, and Barbara Gordon Batgirl.

Favorite Marvel Issue is a tough one, Most likely the last issue of The widowmaker story arc on Ennis's Punisher Max (don't know the number) that end of that issue is still stuck in my mind.
