Sweet Tooth

Postby Steeven » Wed Aug 25, 2010 4:44 pm

Thank God for Jeff Lemire.

I love this book.

I just finished issue 12 and I love this book.

Of course, I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic stories.

I'll admit that the art isn't the best, but he's such a good storyteller that the art works.

I love this book.

Just started reading this and I like it so far. The art kept me away for awhile, but I'm digging it now.

I am the co-host of the TWO TRUE FREAKS PODCAST . I have been alternately described as a "hellish jumble of mismanaged parts" and a "humble God".

Reading the synopsis of of this book I thought for sure I wouldn't like. Then DCBS had the first issue for 75 cents and Jeff offered a free sketch to anyone that bought. Then I got hooked after I read it. Great book, top of the stack each time it comes out.

Although I don't feel the need to get my money back I kinda have to agree with Brad. I also think this book was overhyped by certain podcasters in the mid-west secret handshake club. Nothing wrong with hyping an acquaintance, but I've learned to take that into consideration now when listening to recommendations.

I myself have never met Jeff Lemire, but as I said up there somewhere, I'm a sucker for a post apocalyptic which is one of the reasons I like the book so much. Plus I think it's written very, very well.

I've always struggled with books that have either cute or anthropomorphic characters in them. From what I've heard of Sweet Tooth it's hardly cute but I do find the look a real barrier. I might flick through a trade at some point and see if it presses my buttons.

Just finished #13. Lemire gives us what may be a glimpse into a possible future for Gus as some kind of warrior. (I think that's the little deer kid's name. Damn, why can't I recall the main character's name!? What's wrong with me!?)

Plus, just what is Jeppard up to? What's he thinking!?
