What Books Are You Reading

Postby Steeven » Thu Jul 01, 2010 5:53 pm

Comics are good and all . . . ok, comics are great . . . but what else are you reading?

Right now I'm in the middle of two books:

Boneshaker
by Cherie Priest

The Faithful Spy
by Alex Berenson

Boneshaker is a zombie/steampunk book set in Seatle during the Civil War.

Faithful Spy is about a CIA agent who was undercover with al Queda for years and is now back in America to stop an unknown terrorist attack.

Nothing. I'm not proud. I hope I'll get some cool suggestions here.

I'm reading Admiral Hornblower in the West Indies, the last of the C.S. Forester novels of the character. He was one of the inspirations for Roddenberry creating Captain Kirk.

Previously, I finished the last of the Fleming Bond novels. So, by Comic-Con, I should be starting on some new books and will probably get back to Gerard Jones' Geeks and Gangsters book.

Currently, I'm reading "The Woman Who Wouldn't" by Gene Wilder, yes, that Gene Wilder. I read "What is This Thing Called Love" that is his most recent book and it was really good (more for romantics). This man can write and at some point I would like to own and have read all of his books, which shouldn't be hard, he has about 5 of them. His books are very easy to read and follow, simply fun.

I just started Guillermo Del Toro's "The Stain" earlier this week. So far the book is pretty amazing. I also am slowly working through "The Irregulars" which is about Roald Dahl's exploits during WWII in America.

I am about to get into Zelezney's Chronicles of Amber. My wife just got back from the ALA convention in DC but unfortunately she is a children's author so all the free books she got are more for my daughter than me. Also been re reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.

Just started reading the fifth book of the Dark Tower.

And when King isn't re-hashing past points over and over it is actually a really fun book.

Hopefully that will tale off after the first 200 pages.

I'm reading Elmore Leonard's Pronto. It's the first book to feature Raylan Givens, the U.S Marshall from the television show Justified. It's a really good read.
