I'm asking because Scott and I just set up a partnership deal with them. We were noticing that a lot of people mention going out and buying stuff we were talking about on the show from Amazon. We were also noticing that Libsyn is slowly draining our bank accounts, so......
I'm posing this to the forum, because obviously the people who show up here are the most engaged in interacting with the show and I'm curious what you guys think.
I hate ads, but I've known that someday we would have to do something to partially offset the costs and Scott and I have kind of anguished for a while over how to go about it without being obnoxious. With this deal, we don't really have to insert an ad in the show per se. The way it works is we're getting a cut from Amazon from anything that people buy there who have gotten there through our link. That means the "ad" is on our blog page rather than the show itself. We're still going to have to bring it up in the show, so it will show up. I also found out that we can make our own "store" out of Amazon products, so I'm building a store right now. Since I can put 550 items in each category, it can be pretty well stocked. So far I've got the Star Wars and Star Trek sections of the DVD category finished. If you want to see what it's looking like, it's here:
I'll be adding to it daily for a while. So, what do you guys think, is it a good idea? Has anybody else tried this? Are we selling out ?(answer-no, because we haven't gotten any money!) I don't shop on the internets except for E-Bay, so I'm kind of out of touch on whether people even use Amazon, I assume they do but I have no idea how much. Any items we should put in the store?
I am the co-host of the TWO TRUE FREAKS PODCAST . I have been alternately described as a "hellish jumble of mismanaged parts" and a "humble God".
