Tales of the Justice Society of America #44

WE'RE BACK!

That's right, folks. Despite previous reports of the demise of TALES OF THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA the show is NOT dead. In fact, Scott and Mike are back on a WEEKLY basis so Fridays just got interesting again.

This time out the guys pick up where they left off, but surprisingly they will not be covering the next issue of ALL-STAR SQUADRON. Starting this week Mike and Scott will be covering one of the best stories to come out of this era of ALL-STAR SQUADRON...CRISIS ON EARTH PRIME. Not only is this a major story-arc for the All-Stars but it also crosses over with another DC title namely JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA! This is almost historic because while books crossover into each other all the time these days when this story was published it was like rare.

CRISIS ON EARTH PRIME begins in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #207 and this one has it all, folks! The Justice Society! The Justice League! The Crime Syndicate! The All-Star Squadron (for all of five seconds)! Sonny and Cher! William Shatner! The 1972 Miami Dolphins! Paul Lynde! Bea Arthur! The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders!

Ok, 95% of those people don't appear in this issue, but it's a pretty awesome story anyway. There is action, intrigue, super-heroes and time travel. All the things a growing comic fan needs.

Next Week: ALL-STAR SQUADRON #14 and the second part of CRISIS ON EARTH PRIME!

My offerings to the triumvirate Geek Gods of Lee, Lucas and Roddenberry have been accepted and my prayers answered! Finally, Tales of the Justice Society of America is back! Now for the downloading.

Thanks, Scott and Mike. In wake of the recent rumors that the JSA may be going bye-bye in the Nu-DCU, this is what I needed.

Re: old people and video games ...

My wife works for a company that provides training to senior care providers and apparently, the Wii is huge in nursing homes and senior care facilities, so much so that it's a trade show giveaway. I guess Wii Fit is low-impact enough to get the elderly moving.

Well, guys you now have your end point, Dan D. Just said;

AS for JSA, we have decided to rest this concept while we devote our attention on the launch of the three new Justice League series. As for other characters and series not part of the initial 52, there are plenty of stories to be told, and we're just getting started. best, DD

Comic book podcast? Okay...
Green Lantern comic book podcast? Better...
Green Lantern comic book podcast about the 1990's comic run with an emphasis on Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner? Now that's finding your niche!

Come listen every Friday at !

What truly offends me about reading this was that I vividly remember Dan D cutting in line ahead of me to shake Roy Thomas's hand at MegaCon! Now I REALLY wish I hadn't held myself back from starting some shit with him as was my first inclination. Dan D, not to put too fine a point on it, is a fucking idiot. DC has tried numerous times over the years to retire the JSA, including banishing them to Ragnarok and even killing off most of them in Zero Hour. Well, they got better. I worry not. They will endure. Long Live The JSA.

To be fair, he did say the characters would be around just not the JSA.

They just need to use Alan Scott, Ted Grant, and the JSA line up at the end of JSA All Stars.

And bring back Hawkgirl in some form.

Well, if the last few years of JSA has taught us anything it's that the modern DC reader is only interested in reading Geoff Johns' take on the JSA. After he left the book, sales fell off dramatically. And the attempt to turn JSA into a franchise failed miserably as well from a sales standpoint.

I understand the rationale for putting the JSA on the shelf for a little while. I'd like to see Jay, Alan, and Ted as well, but I can understand giving them a break as well.

About Superboy in ep.45:

Young Justice lost a lot of respect from me when they went with the god awful modern "edgy" emo Conner Kent. He is a fun character with a fun personality NOT a member of My Chemical Romance.
