Righto, here goes ....

I'm 35 years old (36 in a couple of months), married with 4 kids (Meggan is 9, Michael 6, Jamie 3 and Emma just turned 2). I was born in the UK and grew up reading the Marvel UK reprints, primarily Spider-Man Weekly. I moved to New Zealand with my family when I was 11 and I've lived here ever since. Over here I switched to buying the original US editions (easier to come by over here than in the UK at that time) and never looked back. I was a complete Marvel Zombie until the late 80s, and slowly discovered DC in the early and mid-90s. I'm very grateful to my wife for accepting that my ridiculously huge comics collection came as a package deal with me!

My all-time favourite comic series are Legion of Super-Heroes (especially the Levitz-Giffen run), Avengers (the classic era, not the Bendis era), and the first 300 or-so issues of Amazing Spider-Man.

The second ever movie I saw in a theatre was Empire Strikes Back (the first was a re-issue of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, for what it's worth ...), and it was also the first movie I ever went back to see more than once. I have been a Doctor Who fan for as long as I can remember. I wasn't brave enough to watch from the traditional position behind the sofa, I used to watch from the next room with the door half closed. I got my start on Star Trek watching repeats of TOS on BBC2, and I consider "my" Trek to be TOS and TNG (and the movies).

I found TTF through a 6 degrees of podcast separation type deal that is too complicated to go into here, but inevitably included Michael Bailey somewhere along the line :P

Long time lurker, first time poster, so here we go:

J.R 35 years old from Queens, N.Y.

I started listening to TTF after Scott's appearance on From Crisis To Crisis, so I guess Mr. Bailey gets a commission. Unlike other "Comics Elitist" podcasts that go on and on about some indie books (I recall Scott mentioning something like this on a past show and he was probably talking about the same show I'm thinking of), you guys love talking old marvel and DC. I'd rather listen to discussion of an old issue of DC Comics Presents instead of some doodle that some indie creator did on a napkin somewhere.

Been a comics fan for as long as I can remember with the first comic I ever had off the ol' spinner rack was Batman 327. Obviously, I didn't buy it myself, so I'll assume it was my dad who bought it for me while he got a newspaper or cigarettes at the local newsstand. The spinner rack was how I would occasionally get comics for years: assorted Batman, Superman, Spider Man and Star Wars comics (exception being my copy of Marvel Special Edition # 2 Star Wars that still has the Toys R Us price sticker). It wasn't until the sixth grade that I learned that there were stores that sold nothing but comics. My young mind was blown away ! That first store "Mike's Comics Hut" on Northern Blvd (long gone) was my first weekly drug, as I dragged my dad there every week for years. Other stores followed, until I stopped buying new comics a few years ago. Now I only buy back issues to plug holes in my collections. I sold most of my Marvels years ago (X books, Spider Books, Avengers, GI Joe, Transformers) except for my FF collection (196-543) which I hope to never sell. my DC books I'm holding onto as well as I try to complete my 80's Bat, JLA and Super titles. I try to keep up with new stuff (mostly DC) through the local library.

Love all varieties of Star Trek having started on the original series reruns on channel 11/WPIX as I'm sure many of my fellow New Yorkers here did. First Trek movie I saw in theaters was Wrath of Khan.

First movie I saw in a theater (according to my mom) was a double feature of The Black Hole and Sleeping Beauty. How's that for a double bill ? I don't remember it at all, yet I do remember seeing a re release of Star Wars both in a regular and drive in theater on Long Island.

I'll stop now as I don't want to bore anyone who's reading this, just wanted to say that I love the shows and am already anticipating tomorrow's Star Wars Monthly Monday. thanks to that show, I've been reading, probably for the first time in years, my Marvel Star Wars collection. Those post Empire issues are in terrible shape from reading them over and over back then ! Also, I've been following the DC Star Trek series along with you guys on Trek Monthly Monday.

Thanks

I'm Mike, 41 year olds old (42 next April). Been listening to the show selectively for about a year. I basically search out the topics I'm interested in and download from there.
The Star Wars MM episode dealing with the original Star Wars really realed me in. I've heard plenty of discussion but never the kind of passionate memories discussed there like where the movie was seen, the trading cards, etc. It especially resonated with me as I remember seeing a rerelease in '78 where they selling the figures in the theater and my parents purchased me a R2-D2, which is worse for wear but still around.
I'm all over the geek spectrum. I own about 10,000 comics, which would be more but I no longer keep most new books due to space concerns as I'd rather fill in older runs. Collection highlights are near complete runs of Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-man, Marvel Star Wars (Lucky enough to have bought #107 right off the stands at a store across from my grandparents house when it came out), complete runs of Marvel Two-In-One, Marvel Team up, Spider-Woman, Savage She-Hulk and Defenders as well as nice runs of Avengers, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and smaller runs of Batman, Wonder Woman and X-Men. I grew up more with Marvel comics than DC (with the exception of Batman) which is probably why I lean towards them more.
As far as collectibles I LOVE Mego Super Heroes and Vintage Star Wars. I own 5 carded Megos, 19 boxed Megos, and assortment of loose figures including my childhood Spider-Man. On the Star Wars end I have most of childhood figures as well as 20 MOC figures I've purchased since 2004.
My DVD collection would fall under "too many to list" and after purchasing a blu ray player and HDTV this past April have started building a modest blu ray collection (about 30 titles right now).

Welcome aboard Vintage Mike!!!

I feel your pain with your dvd collection. I'm trying to organize my collection and am surrounded everywhere with cardboard boxes filled. I'm a boarderline hoarder. I love your game collection as well.

Hey hey!

I'm Josh Persons. Early 30s, living in Chicago, married with a kid. Professional coder. I'm a huge Star Trek fan, also love comics, Star Wars, movies, and various other true freak hobbies. I've been listening to TTF for many years, but I'm always about 2.5 years behind. I can't catch up, but I can't bring myself to listen out of order.

I've tried to register for the forums a few times but I was never able to get through the spam filter. I just saw at the top of my feed that TTF is bringing on an actual DS9 podcast -- as my favorite Trek, that got me motivated to actually email the admins to get things sorted out. We'll see if it motivates me to break my listening habits.
