I am tired of Daredevil being considered a "bad comic book movie." Daredevil was a good movie and the Director's Cut is even better. And considering how little I like Daredevil as a character, that I enjoyed this movie is a testament to the fact that's its a solid super hero romp.
Also, Scott, while I get your point about Superman shows introducing other heroes, I don't know that I agree with it. S:TAS was very much focused on Superman. That they had team-ups and such was indicitive of the fact that the creators were given free reign to expand into the DCU at large. Superman does not exist in a vacuum; he's the front and center of the entire DCU. But the focus was always on Superman. I mean the hero who guested the most on S:TAS was Dr. Fate (I think) and his whole schtick was to be the guy who advises Superman on magic, much like Emil Hamilton was for technology or science. Even B:TAS introduced some other DC characters in the same manner; they had less freedom to do so but we did get Jonah Hex, The Creeper, The Demon, etc.
And I know you don't watch Smallville but it's the same way. For a long, long time he was the only hero, and when they started introducing the others, the only one who became a regular is Green Arrow. And GA is presented as deeply flawed and certainly not the star of the show that Clark is.
The problem is that while you, me, Mike, Chris, and other geeks recognize the inherent appeal of Superman as the "good" guy is seen as passe and cliched by John and Jane Moviegoer who don't read comics and think that comics are only for kids etc.
The strongly immoral world we live in does not understand the basic concept of "doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do."
