In regards to the ranking lists:

Summer 2011:
X-Men: First Class
Thor
Green Lantern
(Did not see Captain America)

I actually liked Green Lantern quite a bit so I am the odd man out. I liked that it was light and fun. To me it's the antidote to the heavy, super-serious and super-important Nolan Batman movies. If we get a Flash film that is similar in the pacing and style I think we'll be in for a treat. Thor was really good but not on the level of X-Men First Class, which was just a superlative little sleeper.

Avengers Build-Up:
Iron Man
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor
(Still did not see Captain America)

I'm an Iron Fan, so Iron Man still holds up as the best of these movies as far as I am concerned. It's pretty much everything I want in an Iron Man film. Incredible Hulk was INSANE. The fight at the end was the first time I really felt we got to see the "real" Hulk. Iron Man 2, see what I said about Iron Man. Thor was solid but not as strong as either Iron Man because Thor is not as strong a character as Iron Man as far as I am concerned. Iron Man 2 had a lot more heart and character than Thor did.

Comic book podcast? Okay...
Green Lantern comic book podcast? Better...
Green Lantern comic book podcast about the 1990's comic run with an emphasis on Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner? Now that's finding your niche!

Also, regarding Jurrasic Park 3 -- you have to love a film which brings back the classic 1950s giant monster movie trope of "...and then the Army shows up!" When the armor rolls in at the end, I was cheering.

Holy crap Scott and I like Iron Man 2 for the same reason, except I like it more for the Hughes connection.

So i finaly convinced the wife to go and see Captain America yesterday, and boy , i was disapointed.
First of all, if you do a WWII Cap flick, why doens't he kill a single nazi? In fact not even one nazi was killed in this movie.
Sure we hear alot about it, but does we see it? NOooooooo
So why even bother?
Then there was this whole discussion? Can Cap carry a gun? Nooo he can't he's a pacifist. Yeees he has to, cause he did in the golden age.
Give him a gun, i'm fine with that cause it fits the time the movie was set in, but if you do, let him shoot something.
Everyone else in the movie was shooting someone, or something onscreen. But Cap? No you only see him shooting at something ofscreen. To me thats the
easy way out of a moral dilemma.
Chris Evans played the part well, well the part that was given to him. And thats another major problem with this movie. Cap was blend. He was the same throughout the whole movie. Like a silverage Superman. An empty shell. Iron Man had a development, so had Thor. But Cap was like a dial tone. Where was Campells Hero's Journey?
Honestly i cared for everyone else in this movie more. like i did for the protagonist.
Tommy Lee Jones, he made this movie.
Dominic Cooper, what a genious casting decision. I would love to see a Howard Stark spin off movie.
Hugo Weaving... fantastic. This is how i would imagine Skeletor in a MotU Movie.
Parts of the movie felt more like a videogame. And i never felt any sense of danger for the main character like i did in Hulk, Iron Man or Thor.
And worst of all, it felt more like a Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow movie, when it should have felt like a Saving Privat Ryan.
As a movie itself, it isnt that bad. And it got a good resonance with women (even non comic book related ones) over here.
But is it a good Captain America Movie? No (Better than the 90's one, i'll give him that, not counting the cheesy factor)
Is it the Movie i was hoping for? No
Is it the new age Marvel movies darkest hour so far? Yes.

Sorry for the rant, but i had to get this of my chest.

P.S. On a side note, you have a Cap that had one Adventure, then he dispears for 70 years. You'll bring him back and you wont even bother with his dilemma that he has to deal with the legend he grow into in that time? Good luck with that Weedon.

I love Captain America, precisely because he was hero. Watching and reading about heroes whining about whether they're doing anything good at all can get tiring after a while.
