I don't have a problem with Geoff Johns pushing Green Lantern, or Flash for that matter. To use a wrestling analogy, sometimes you need some fresh faces at the top of the card.
To continue the wrestling analogy: The problem as I see it is that instead of giving both of their legends (Superman and Batman) a good program to work, DC has pushed the hell out of one legend and sort of left the other to his own devices. New Krypton was an epic, stupendous, grandiose adventure in the spirit of the Superman epics of the 90s, but DC did not do nearly as much to hype it as they did, say, Batman RIP. And then bringing in JMS reeks of desperation.
Continuing the wrestling analogy, what were the main events at Wrestlemania this year? John Cena (top guy) vs The Miz (new face at top) and Edge (top guy) vs Alberto Del Rio (new face at the top). But what match got the most hype? Undertaker (legend) vs Triple H (legend). Pushing new faces is always good. But you cannot leave the legends behind, either, because they can always draw money.
Comics, like wrestling, is not a zero-sum game. There's no reason we cannot push Superman AND Batman AND Green Lantern at the top of the card. Except that someone in either DC or Warners thinks that Superman is passe and is not interested in pushing him anymore. Someone thinks that he is Bob Backlund when they need to realize that he is Hulk Hogan.
