Freakish Requests...

Postby RHagen » Sat Aug 28, 2010 1:19 am

...or a discussion about what subjects we'd like to hear covered in the 'Fourth Monday' shows.

And to kick off this whole party...

The "Back to the Future" Trilogy: I know this has been mentioned as being on tap at some point down the road, but we're coming up on the 25th anniversary of Marty's trip from 1985 to 1955. Seems like an appropriate time to do an 'EPIC' show on BttF. It also would be cool way to welcome Scott back to the airwaves.

(My eagerness to hear this show is not being helped by the fact that all three movies have been coming on regularly what seems like most of the summer.)

Feel free to chime in with what you'd like to hear our favorite 'Freaks' cover in the days and months ahead... :D

Here's a few that i'd like to hear (or even be a part of)

-Top 5 Comic Book Movies. (I can't believe this hasn't been done yet)

-The sequel to Chariots of the Geeks

- Top 5 Cartoon Themes

- What We'd do to fix comics these days. Everyone bitches about what they think is wrong with the industry...but what would you do if the powers that be said, "Hey, freak. I need your help here."

"If someone offers you a penny for your thoughts and give them your 2 cents, what happens to the other penny?" -paraphrased George Carlin.

Covering The Bruce Timm DC animated series would be grand.

Dude. I totally wanna rock the Big Trouble in Little China review with you guys! I've always loved that movie.

Also, i'm fairly certain we were promised the origin of Pete Hesch (sp?) and i'm fairly certain we haven't heard it yet.

With the discussion of it over in another section of the FFG forums, I would love to hear the Freaks' take on/put my two cents in for Let the Right One In. This could not only be a discussion of the movie, but vampire movies in general, which ones work and which don't, and unnecessary remakes, including the possible Fright Night remake.

And with the "fifth" season of Futurama ending this week, it would be cool to hear a review of that season, or of the show in general. In my opinion, this was the show that Fox should have brought back instead of Family Guy. In my estimation, Futurama is the perfect show for geeks, far more than Big Bang Theory in that embraces every aspect of geek lifestyle without mocking it. Furthermore, the fact that many of the creators and writers are actually accomplished scientists and mathematicians allows for the show to be highly intelligent at the same time it is being completely ludicrous. And that it was able to seamlessly blend humor and pathos into a cartoon makes it one my favorite shows of all time.

I'm down for Bond(I love the cheese of the Moore era, even Moonraker, and Spy Who Loved Me is just super entertaining). Big Trouble is a must, that film is so much fun its Criminal that we never got a sequel to it. My suggestion- Video games to films, some are fun, most are a load of fetid dingo's kidneys. I threw this idea out on the Comic Tube board- You have 100 Million dollars to make a sequel to a film that never got one, what would it be, what's the story idea, who's the cast, music by who, blah, blah, blah.
If there's more history to be mined from your history in Carthage, bring it on, those episodes recounting your capricious youths were great.
If you guys ever tackle the DC animated Universe, get me in there. I've been watching the Timmverse since I was, well, a teenager(I can't believe that that continuity has been on that long).

Can't wait to see what the future holds.

At the altar of rock 'n' roll you kneel.
A slave who forever rocks,
Is chained in the devil's locks,
And slain by the bloody axe I wail!"

A 4 part BTTF podcast series would be best in my eyes. Even though I don't think some of the podcasts that have covered it did a bad job just not the in depth detail I would had liked.

What do you guys think of the Butterfly Effect movie for a topic. It is one of my favorite movies. It takes the road not taken concept and shows many different variations. Where most movies of this type show just one alternating path.

If you choose this topic I don't expect you to talk about the seqauls. I think the second one was interesting but did not have the attention to detail that the first one did. Also the story fall apart once you realize how much of an idiot the main character is in his choices. I liked the 3rd movie more than the 2nd but still pales compared to the first. The mystery/horror aspect was a nice addition to the concept.

Oh and I second the idea about hearing more about your misspent youth.

Throwing yourself into the DC Animated Toons may be a bit daunting (Batman, Superman, Justice League, Batman Beyond (renamed Batman Of The Future over here in the UK!) Static Shock and The Zeta Project) but I'd love to hear you discuss Mask Of The Phantasm and Return Of The Joker.

But then there's so many topics. A big yes to BTTF, Bond and John Carpenter's stuff. How about Scott Pilgrim?
