The titular trio are back! This week we are all up each other's business. We have a top 5 things we say from movies/TV. Ryan argues that the Ghostbusters are superheroes while Jonathan argues against. Elizabeth's dog audiobombs the podcast and speaks to Jonathan. We have a list of movies, including our new part where we recommend a pick of the week and thumbs down one, too. Video games, TV, and a few books round out this podcast. Elizabeth even promises to watch something new, at some point, maybe.

Pleasure your earholes this week, right here.

Haven't listened yet, but I'd say the Ghostbusters are just heroes rather than supers. They don't have any special powers or abilities, and crucially they approach what they do as a job rather than a heroic calling - they're more equivalent to firemen than a super team (which is emphasised with the equipment and base they use).

They are like Batman. They have super gadgets they built themselves. They have a customized car. They take out [bad guys] harassing people. They just have to ask for a fee since they were not born into money.

The Ghostbusters = Heroes like Firemen. They're a city service. If they start to fight super villains then they can be super Heroes.

Gozer is to Ghostbusters as a hornet nest is to a bugman: riskier than usually, but still part of the job. You're not a superhero if you charge for it.

Maybe they arent super powered heroes but they could be super heroes. You gave a good argument Ryan, but I'm with the whole, it's they're paid job mentality. I think if they did it for free, i may lean the other way, cause as stated, Batman hasnt any super powers nor Batgirl nor Nightwing, etc. The guys have superior intellect so that could make them superheroes, bigger brains than the average man.

I liked the conversation that was going on this episode. The recommend, dont recommend was a cool idea. What if you guys picked a random movie off netflix you guys havent seen or havent seen in years, on air as homework to watch and you all can discuss together along with the regular format. Maybe the listeners can choose to watch as well and chime in like the top 5's. I say this cause you guys crack me up when you make fun of all our top 5 responses :).

Listening to all the Ace Ventura quotes, which some i use too, i cant believe I forgot "let me tell you something" fire marshall bill from In living color, classic.

I don't understand Jonathan's super heroes have to start in comics argument. Green hornet, James Bond, zorro are all superheroes.

Whoa whoa whoa, James Bond is not a superhero. Super spy is more like it.

Green Hornet & Zorro aren't superheroes, either. Neither are the Shadow or the Lone Ranger. They're pulp characters; heroes, not superheroes.

Technically the Avengers could be seen as cops as well, just not on a municipal level, more like CIA. To be a super hero you'd have to go above and beyond the call of duty since the term hero gets thrown around so easily. Athletes and soldiers are both called heroes in our society but I wouldn't give a good point guard more hero cred than a fighter pilot. Batman and Robocop are superheroes, one operates inside, one outside, the law.

I wouldn't compare the Ghostbusters to firemen as they work on commission. The GB's are more like the Roto-Router man. If nobody calls they don't get paid. They did end up fighting a god so this makes them superheroes at the end of the day but they start off as tradesmen.

Fighting a god did not make them superheroes. Suppose Clees is magically sent into The Dark Phoenix Saga story, and he donkey punches the Jean Grey clone while she is distracted. He fought a god-like being so comic Clees is now a superhero?

If he defeated the god then yes, he'd be a superhero.
