Dc: before watchmen, final crisis, the culling, grounded, any of the events from the annuals in the late eighties early 90s

It's hit or miss actually. The art is universally good, but the stories seemed forced to me. If I had to rank them:

Silk spectre
Ozymandias
Rorschach
Dr manhattan
Nite owl
Comedian

The pirate backup story in each issue is basically unreadable garbage.
