FOURTH ANNIVERSARY ASK MIKE AND SHAG A QUESTION THREAD!

Postby Michael Bailey » Sat May 21, 2011 11:27 am

The fourth anniversary of Views is fast approaching and since the show has more or less gotten back on it's feet I wanted to celebrate with my semi-regular co-host Shag by devoting an entire episode to what YOU guys want to talk about. So ask us any comic book or geek related questions and we will answer them. We should be recording in the first week of June so you have that long to post. When we record I'll lock this thread so get your questions in now!

(BTW- I will answer the one or five questions I haven't gotten to yet. Promise.)

BOTH: If you were to write an original comic, book, or movie what would it be about?

SHAG: Is there any science fiction franchise you just don't get?

MIKE: First of all, thanks so much man for putting this show out. I don't care how late it is I love Views and you are not getting paid for it but you still put out a quality product. Now to my question what does every good Superman story need to have?

What is the most random or obscure film/show/comic (your pick) that you like that nobody else seems to like (or everyone else hates, for that matter), or nobody knows about?

Your Top 5 favourite live action TV episodes from a TV show derived from a comic (not series - single episodes).

Your Top 5 favourite animated TV episodes from a TV show derived from a comic book (ditto).

Both: Name some non Marvel/DC comic characters/series you enjoy?
Mike: In 2006 you said you owned 13,000 plus comics how many do you own now?
Shag: How many comics you own?
Both: Besides long/short boxes and bookcases is there any other comic book storage or display devices you like or wish you had?
Both: Truthfully do you think Views will be around in 5 years?
Mike: Have you seen the Nightmare on Elm Street remake if so what did you think?
Mike: Are you still going to do that Collecting Comics 101 show? Like caring for the books, how to find good deals and so on.

This is longer than expected. Even with it being late every once in a while I glad you keep on with the show. Good things are worth the wait.

First of, congrats on the anniversary! I'll skip the mushy stuff and get straight to the questions!

Let's see...

-Mike and Shag!... full thoughts on the DC Relaunch announcement. I feel really bad for Mike ; he just came back to the Superman books and now they fuck it up with a NEW costume, possibility of a NEW Origin (even though the current one isn't even a year old) and the possibility of the Clark/Lois marriage being retconned.

-Shag! If Firestorm, Blue Devil, Doctor Fate, and Aquaman were on a team together, who would be the leader and what would you call the team?

-Mike! Did the finale of Smallville live up to your expectations? What were your expectations, and how would you rate the series and what it's done for the Man of Steel?

-Shag! It seems up in the air whether the Flash in the planned Flash movie will be Barry or Wally. I personally think Wally should be a supporting character in the first, Kid-Flash in the second, then have Barry be killed and Wally step up as Flash in the 3rd film. I know you are a fellow Wally fan, so what's your opinion?

-Mike and Shag! How do you like the new Avengers and Young Justice Cartoons? What other comic book related properties would you like to see get animated series? I personally would like to see a more mature All-Star Squadron cartoon set in WWII, or a HBO style Gotham Central series featuring the cops going against serial killers like Zsasz or mob bosses like Penguin, Two-Face, Black Mask, Scar Face, ect. Joker would be a great villain for sweeps.

-Mike! How do you feel about the level of Superdickery Superman is portrayed with on Young Justice, and his relationship with Superboy?

-Shag! If you were in charge of a Firestorm animated series, what would the format be?

-Mike and Shag! What do you think will be this summer's most successful comic book film (Thor, X-Men, GL, and Cap)? Which one's are you looking forward and what ones look like crap? Also what ones are or aren't you looking forward to in 2012? (Man of Steel, Dark Knight Rises, Ghost Rider 2, Amazing Spider-Man, and Avengers)

-Mike! A long time ago, you said you had an "Ultimate" Superman story in your head. Could you please elaborate in detail? I would love to hear what your take would be.

-Shag! If you were in charge of the Avengers movie, who would the villain be? Loki controlling Hulk? Ultron? Kang? Thanos? Skrulls? Also when current contracts expire, what characters would you like to see continue the franchise? I personally want to see Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, and Ant-Man.

-Mike and Shag! I know both of you are fond of obscure characters, I personally became a fan of the Rose Wilson Ravager and Kid Devil after reading through Geoff John's Titans run. How did you guys first discover all you're obscure favorites? I assume Shag found Firestorm through Super Friends, but what got you hooked on Blue Devil? And how the hell did Mike become a fan of Iron Monroe?

-Mike! You've said in the past that you aren't really into the sci-fi comics, but how about a trilogy with different co-hosts?

Star Trek:Scott & Chris from Two True Freaks or JR from the Crawlspace

Star Wars: Bertone & Big Honkin' Steve

Doctor Who: The Irredeemable Shag!

Man that last guy took a number of the questoins "I" was going to ask. Well no point in repeating what he stated.

Both: What is your most favorite Elseworld tale? what is your least favorite? Which one do you feel is the most original? (This does NOT HAVE to be your main favorite, like for me my most fav is the Superman/Batman Generations Saga but I place JLA Secret Society of the Superheroes as one of the most original Elseworlds I've read). Favorite DC/Marvel crossover, least favorite. Favorite DC/Dark Horse Crossover, least favorite. And why to all of the above questions.

Mike: You stated you DO have opinion on the legal issues wit hSuperman and it's one you feel could suprirse people...what IS yhour opinion on the Superman Case?

Shag: I've recently gotten into Doctor Who so I gotta ask...favorite Doctor, least favorite doctor (BY compairison, not saying "which one do you think sucks the most). Favorite companion, least fav one. Fav episode/story arc, least fav. Fav villian, least fave? (For me it's 10th, 6th, Sarah Jane & K9, Eh...haven't seen enough to develop a least fav on that question LOL. The Stolen Earth/The Journys end, The Lodger, Daleks, eh...so many oen offs that felt superfelous)

Both: I pointed this out to Blake from 2 in 1 long ago, I'll point it out to you guys. Loeb once stated on Word Balloon that he felt DC was to strict on staying true to the characters and he felt it limited stories (of course this interview was a few years ago) but at Marvel they could allow almost ANY tale to be told, any character can be thrown in, and if it doens't work they can just retcon it later. I feel that personally sounds like Marvel lets writers go loose to tell their story even if the characters involved aren't needed nor would it really fit their characters. (basically story over character) what do you guys think of that?

Shag: Your opinion on what happened to Firestorm throughout Brighest Day?

That's all I've got, happy anniversary, keep up the great work!
