New Comic at a Comic Convention

I'm curious as to your thoughts on this, fellow geeks...
As I've mentioned way too many times, (sorry, I've got a one track mind these days) I'm working on a comic book at the moment. We plan on releasing in September of 2012. Before then, I'd like to hit up a few conventions and kick-start some buzz. We'll definitely have a table at ORLANDO MegaCon next year, and I'm hoping DragonCon will be a possibility. NYCC is also down as a "must go" for us. My questions to you folks is this:
What would you like to see at a convention from a brand new comic book you've never heard of?
What draws your attention to a table amongst so many?
What conventions, besides the three I've mentioned, would you recommend as a good place to reach COMIC BOOK fans who might like a brand new book like this? (MegaCon is far more "manga & anime" oriented than comic books, but there's still a large comic book presence, and us being locals, MegaCon is a must. But what conventions have you been to that are heavily comic book oriented?) We'll be bringing plenty of Issue #0 to pass around for free, and we hope to have Issue #1s for very cheap before release date.
What kind of display, products, free stuff, contests, etc. would be wise to set up to keep people coming back to the table?
What are some creative or unique techniques you've seen people use at these conventions to grab your attention, and succeeded?
Any suggestions would be well appreciated as this is our first time doing anything like this, and we're doing it all ourselves. An answer to ANY of these questions (even if it's just one) would be a big help. Thanks.
