Probably something to do with SM's 50th.

X-Men: Curse of the Mutants – Storm and Gambit #1 was an easy read, wasn't it?

Coming Soon: Gambit

Postby DakenLeBeau » Thu Apr 12, 2012 4:24 pm

I like Bachello art. I don't like it combined with the zany storytelling of Jason Aaron. When Carey and Ghishler were writing for him I had no problem.

My pick would be for Ramos. No-one draws a better Gambit than Humberto Ramos in my opinion. Clenched teeth and all

Ramos is doing the fallout arc of World's end which would come out the same time as Gambit.

There's a fallout arc? I thought we go straight into the Lizard horror story. '.'

On the Comic Book Club podcast that's what Slott said. Maybe it's 2 issues long, or they're combining both. *shrugs8

Oh! I think I know why there is confusion. For some weird reason, Caselli is doing the first two and last two issues of the event. Ramos is doing the middle two (so the next two).

I have no idea why. '.'

After EotE we have the Lizard by the guy that drew the vulture one -- cannot wait for that :).

OT- Just a heads up liz, if your interested in Belladonna, and the Theives guild sans Gambit, they are prominent antagonists in Scarlet Spider right now.
Its my favourite characters' universe. Your favourite characters just live in it.

So it's an ongoing, and not a mini. James Asmus is the writer, so great call. Clay Mann's on art.

Over under on when it gets canned?

It's an ONGOING?!?

Ugh. I'll give it a year. I have faith enough in Gambit followers... but not THAT much.

Daniel Ketchum is editing so that's great news.

Liz you might like this.

Asmus will write the teased "Gambit" ongoing series with artist Clay Mann starting in August. "This book focuses on the two most important aspects of Gambit: #1 that he's sexy, and #2 that he's the preeminent bad ass thief of the Marvel Universe," the writer said.

Also...

He explained that the book will feature Gambit broken away from the X-Men, stealing wild items from across the Marvel U in locations like space, places with Kirby monsters and more. "It lets us refresh and do new things with the crime capers involving our classic bad ass." He also joked that "We got rid of the head sock" in describing Mann's art as "Sexy."

Overall, the book will build a "dangerous series of events" that pull Gambit into a "territory of mixed morality." Asmus also noted that he wanted to make the book as accessible for everyone including fans of the '90s "X-Men" cartoon and longtime readers who have been asking for Gambit to return in a major way.

Editor Ketchum said that he didn't want to revisit the same stories that have been told with Gambit a thousand times with Bella Donna and the Thieves Guild in New Orleans. Instead, this will be like a Gambit movie that reintroduces the character in an all-new way.
