What did everyone else think?

Not much... apparently a lot of people bought it, so this AvX branding is something special.

i thought it was a great "prologue" introducing the two driving plot characters. the scarlet witch story was great after reading Avengers 24.1 and though the first few pages of the hope story have been "previewed" for months it seems, i liked seeing her take apart that snake team.

not a necessary read, but gives the "back into comics because of avx" people a good grasp of what they're in for.

also the art was great, cho at his best! it's not just anyone who can make wanda's ridiculous costume look appealing. and the pages of her being approached by her fellow avenger ladies and being shot down by vision, really nice work.

I thought the Vision was a bit of a dick and also after reading Children's Crusade the fact that the girls would try and take Wanda back to the mansion seemed forced.

Scarlet Witch's story was good--loved the fight scene with MODOK, and the scene with Vision would have been a great, emotional moment...were it not for the last panel with him crying. I get that's a popular, beloved moment in Avenger's history, but that just seemed completely out of place.

The Hope story was okay--didn't grab me as much as Wanda's, but I wouldn't say it was bad either. The stuff with Scott's jetpack got a bit of a laugh out of me, though.

Hope looked freaky as a body builder.

I've also read that some stores are selling AvX #1 already as if they're throwing a launch party their stock of the book has arrived and some are breaking the launch date.

Anyone's store doing this?

A good intro issue. The art was beautiful, especially the work done on Scarlet Witch's costume. I did feel the proportions on Cyclops and Anaconda were a little off. My experience with Anaconda is from the late 80's/early 90's Captain America where she is usually drawn a lot larger than the other members of the Serpent Society. I also enjoyed Hope's head-butting Anaconda. We knew the Phoenix was coming and by the end it appears it's right outside our Solar System which means it should be here within the hour. And the roster counts of 18 Avengers vs. 6 X-Men seem a little uneven. All in all it did what it needed to do, introduced new readers, I'd give it a 4 out of 5. Useless side note, when the Serpent Society were first introduced as a group, they were hired by A.I.M. to kill M.O.D.O.K. for their first mission (Captain America #313 (January 1986)), however M.O.D.O.K. got better.

Was anyone able to redeem their digital code?

I hope Wanda never accidentally hex bolts herself and gets her rack caught in a revolving door. This was certainly a Frank Cho joint.

I have reached the conclusion that Marvel's Coupon Redemption is broken. Blah.

As someone who doesn't read XBooks (except for XForce), I enjoyed the set up and the catch-up on Hope. Love the Cho art.

Russ-L told me that the coupons don't out until April 1, so maybe that explains it.
