I still like this book, but as I stated in the other thread, I wish Legacy, Astonishing, and WatXM had more distinct casts. I guess I need to look at this as a Rogue solo book with A LOT of guest stars. Thoughts?

I really liked it. IMO no one currently in an x-book writes better dialogue than gage.

Strange that his Avengers Academy is so poorly scripted then.

I think you're right - it's a Rogue solo book disguised as a team book. Even beyond the fact that Rogue is depicted as the one who is always right, Gage seems to be developing themes around the implications of having a power that only works by taking things from other people. This arc brings in Mimic and Weapon Omega to provide some fodder for comparing and contrasting with Rogue. Which suggests that there was a deliberate point to having Rogue steal powers from the kids in the recent Point One issue.

I read Avengers Academy and at the end of every issue I don't understand why I continue to read it. I find it lazily scripted with the characters saying each others names in every dialogue box, and the characters are just not interesting in the least.

i agree with antony. i find the characters in academy wholly unbelievable. the book reads like an after school special.

legacy though was great! as it was nearing the end of the issue i was thinking, "just once i'd like to see their 'it's dangerous but no other choice/worth a shot/no better suggestions' WEAK excuses for going along with suicidal plans finally blow up in their faces" and i got my wish!

also i'm glad to see brooding starsmore again, i find it funny that he tried to turn a silly joke question into a more meaningful soul searching thing. :P

I thought the gay thing in Avengers Academy was handled terribly and was quite offensive in parts too.

I hope you meant that as an "April Fool's" joke.
