So I was really excited to read this issue today. It was a fairly slow opening in my opinion. What did you guys think?

I'm annoyed that they are only counting the extinction team as X-Men on the intro page.

Also, Hope, Cyclops and Emma acted as if it's the first time they'd seen Hope display the Phoenix flare when this would be the third time.

This is the problem with the issue being written by an Avengers writer.

I can't do the AR as I'm reading the comic digitally on my iPad.

Who's to say that the PF didn't reanimate Nova and send him hurtling to Earth, because he would be able to reach Earth quicker, to warn Earth of something else that is coming. Nova only says 'it' is coming, and if the PF reanimated Nova it's power signature would be all over it. The Avengers are jumping to a justifiable conclusion and Cyclops is jumping the gun. He did fire first.

Is the rest of the series going to take place on Utopia, just a massive battle before the PF arrives? If so, hopefully Utopia will sink.

Jean Grey didn't sacrifice herself. The Phoenix Force did because it thought it was Jean. Xorneto killed Jean. The Phoenix does not need a host.

I won't be surprised if everyone comes out of this event with a mixed up interpretation of X-Men lore.

The Avengers brought nets and metal Q-tips to a mutant-power fight? Really? (And they're not mutant inhibitors, because Wolverine's got one.)

They've been telegraphing the Hope/Phoenix thing so hard that the only way to make this an interesting 12 issue story is for that to be a red herring.

I have no expectations that the Phoenix parts of this story will reconcile with established continuity (partly because that continuity is so thorny already); I just hope whatever they come up with is a decent story on its own terms.

Was anyone else waiting for Cyclops to tell Hope "Stop trying to hit me and hit me!"

I thought that the Cap/Cyclops fight seemed a little forced. This is a typical start to an event that has this many issues attached to it. Secret Invasion was a bit of a slow start.

My prediction is that Emma is influencing Scott and that's why he's being so dicky. But I've been saying it for a long time now. One day it'll be true.

Isn't Cap breaking all kinda international laws by arriving in a foreign state and demanding the removal of one of its citizens?
