Flicks

Postby bantor2 » Thu Mar 29, 2012 3:41 am

Here is a topic for us to discuss all forms of film. What did you just watch? What are you going to watch? What DVD did you buy? Have any awesome movie posters to show off? What films do you love? All of these questions and more will be answered right here.

For me, the last movie I watched was the Kung Fu masterpiece Master of the Flying Guillotine. This awesome piece of kung fu cinema has it all. A Blind master, a one armed boxer, a brutal tournament that features an eclectic group of martial artists. Including a dingy Thai kick boxer, a kung fu Samurai, and a Kung Fu Indian who can stretch his arms just like the great Dahlsim. Oh yea did i mention there is a flying guillotine that pulls unsuspecting victims heads right off. That's all for now, I have to go watch this gem again, it's just that good!

Last movie I watched was The Muppets. Had to show it to a friend of mine, his wife and his hot sister in law. The movie is so good and even though I've seen it like a dozen times now I still keep misting up at the end with Rainbow Connection.

Before that it was 21 Jump Street. That movie is hilarious. it's got to be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. So funny in fact I've seen it twice in theaters.

NExt movie to see will be Mirror Mirror since the wife wants to see it. Even though it stars Seabiscui..err..Julia Roberts though she's not a terrible actress.

I go to the cheap movies quite a bit. I think the last one was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It was good, it has this crazy murdr mystery story. I never read the book, as I don't read books usually, I did see the foreign version of this about a year ago and both matched up pretty good. Before that I think it was Sherlock Holmes 2 and that was sweet, if you liked the 1st then you'd like this one.

The last movie I watched was Justice League Doom and Star Wars Clone Wars. I enjoy both. I really would like to see Wrath of the Titans just for the spectacle of it. I love mythology stuff.

I dunno man, i'd like to think that Wrath of the Titans is going to be good but it just looks so bad. I'm still waiting for a good Greek mythology movie.

The original Clash was very awesome. The new one was very meh. I mean there is so much awesome Greek mythology out there that they didn't need to add the D'jinn. They could have used a harpy or something. The D'jinn was just Chewbacca.

Saw Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at the discount theatre last weekend. Liked it a lot, felt like the first one which I enjoyed, too. Also saw the Muppets, which I liked a lot more than I thought I would. Dave Grohl had the best cameo in the movie, hands down. I mentioned in another thread I suffered through Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill...that was horrendous!

My wife took the boys yesterday to their second viewing of John Carter, her first. She liked it, just not as much as I did.

Poor John Carter. It's a shame Disney did such a crap job on how they marketed that movie.

You guys are the first people I've heard say anything good about the new Clash of the Titans. Everyone I know in person that's seen it hated it.

They just announced "Anchorman 2." It better not suck, the original is one of my favorites.

I just saw Young Adult starring Charlize Theron, Mavis Gary and Patton Oswalt and it was phenomenal movie. It deals with growing older and how your sense of self alters. Its sad its funny its heartfelt and its real. Like life there is no great ending wrapped up in a pretty bow. Charlize truly shows her ability to play a different character.

GOON

Postby Arthur Ratnik » Fri Mar 30, 2012 7:59 pm

As a huge fan of Slapshot, I was REALLY sketchy on this one, but I'm happy to say that it is worthy of following in that classic's bloody skate-tracks. It's made by the guy who made the Fubar films, he's a Canadian, so that gives it an even added dimension of reality and authenticity. This movie has buckets of heart, blood and great, creative profanity. If you're a Slapshot fan or a hockey fan, you will love this movie.

I've rercently seen John Carter and enjoyed the movie. I especially liked the ending. I thought it was a good bit of story telling.

I've also seen 21 Jump Street and think its a very funny movie. I liked it a lot.

And then I've seen The Hunger Games. I like the movie and I think its an interesting setting for a story. Watching the movie I can tell that theres more to the story that they just couldn't get to in the movie. Now I'm interested in reading the books to see how they might ellaborate on some things. I think the only negative thing I would say is that I wish they could have gone into a little more deatail on some things.

I don't know what I'll see next. There's a bunch that look good and I hope to catch a late show tonight. I want to get out to see Wrath of the Titans and Mirror Mirror. There's also The Lorax, and Project X.

Just watched Gremlins for the first time, and I absolutely loved it! I have seen bits and pieces here and there but never sat through the whole thing. I can't believe it took this long.
