Personal story about autographs at a show:
Our first trip to Baltimore, I brought a couple items to get signed by Howard Chaykin. Jacob had brought one of his Marvel Star Wars books, too. He didn't have much of a line, but a guy I've seen at multiple cons since who gets items graded for CGC (I'm guessing) comes over with a book that's taped up, plops it in front of him, Chaykin signs it, the guy takes a picture as he does it, picked up the book, and walked away. Didn't say thanks, kiss my butt, hello, nothing.
Jacob walks up, places his book down and Chaykin starts to sign without looking up. Jacob asks if he could make it out to him, he looks up, and we ended up having a 20 minute conversation while he did a sketch for me. Couldn't have been nicer...
Everybody's got their reasons for being at shows, it would just be nice if those that are in it for the money just showed a tiny bit of appreciation...I'm sure some do, but I've not experienced it firsthand.
Oh, and I'll echo the conversation on the episode...BATHE before the show, please! Jacob's 11 and hates to shower, but he's smelled enough funk now at shows he doesn't argue.
