Excellent guys, Shannon seems like a really cool guy. I'm glad you got to interview him. He did mention something that really pisses me off about the convention scene. It's the getting signatures and art pieces just so you can put them on Ebay. This really annoys me. Because of them the real fans don't get the pleasure of having one of their favorite artists do a piece for them. It's a real shame.

I'm choosing to save this episode until my drive down to Tampa for work later this week.

I'd never even thought about reselling anything on eBay from an artist. I guess cause I never get anything from them that isn't for me.

A round table with gallant, Atkins and others would be badass

So glad you guys made this happen! It made my Monday morning to listen. Shannon is really a great guy, and he's a lot of fun to be around. That really came through in this episode.

For the record, it was the Fillbach Brothers we were drinking with at VA Con, however Shannon was plastered by the time we got there...don't let him tell you any different.

Thanks for the shout outs (and for Jacob, sorry he isn't old enough to listen), look forward to hearing him again for sure.

On an unrelated note, anybody else notice on the cover to RAH #180 it says "Scarlet" on her badge? Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to this issue based on what Shannon told me he'd be including.

Personal story about autographs at a show:

Our first trip to Baltimore, I brought a couple items to get signed by Howard Chaykin. Jacob had brought one of his Marvel Star Wars books, too. He didn't have much of a line, but a guy I've seen at multiple cons since who gets items graded for CGC (I'm guessing) comes over with a book that's taped up, plops it in front of him, Chaykin signs it, the guy takes a picture as he does it, picked up the book, and walked away. Didn't say thanks, kiss my butt, hello, nothing.

Jacob walks up, places his book down and Chaykin starts to sign without looking up. Jacob asks if he could make it out to him, he looks up, and we ended up having a 20 minute conversation while he did a sketch for me. Couldn't have been nicer...

Everybody's got their reasons for being at shows, it would just be nice if those that are in it for the money just showed a tiny bit of appreciation...I'm sure some do, but I've not experienced it firsthand.

Oh, and I'll echo the conversation on the episode...BATHE before the show, please! Jacob's 11 and hates to shower, but he's smelled enough funk now at shows he doesn't argue.

It was funny because the whole time I was editing this episode I was thinking how much Shannon's voice sounded like someone I would be familiar with. Then it hit me today. Even though they look nothing alike, just Shannon's voice reminded me of Dave Foley's voice (actor from the sitcom Newsradio and was on The Kids in the Hall). Does he sound like him to anyone else?

I had posted this previously on the old forum, but thought it would be good for anybody looking for Shannon at a con to know what he looks like.

He's on the end in the Charlie Brown shirt, putting my boy in a headlock...he wasn't kidding when he said he'd smack him around.

He looks a little like Hugo Weaving in that photo. It's like I can hear him saying "Hello Mr. Anderson".

And speaking of nerd stench, a lot of the folks in the 501st keep body sprays and deodorant in their kit bags with them. So when they're done sweating to death in their armor or whatever costume their wearing, they don't smell like stale ass.

Am I missing something here. I was looking for the episode last night and it wasn't listed on iTunes. 1984 was the most recent episode on iTunes. Also, I don't see the listen now button for the episode on your blog. :(

I checked this morning and the episode is on the website now and I was able to redownload it through iTunes when I deleted it from my list, unsubscribed and resubscribed to see if it would appear. So hopefully if you subscribe to the podcast you'll see it pop up. It still is not showing in the regular iTunes store area, so I'll have to email Podbean tonight to see what happened and to have it fixed.

Listened to the episode today as I was driving through Virginia (I waved in all directions to say hi to you jt) and I was surprised to learn that Shannon lives in DC. He sounds like a total blast to hang out with. However I must take offense at his comment about waking 6 miles from the train station to get to the convention center. It's really more like 1 street. :)

I also had a muppet I was scared to death of as a kid. I still have it but it's an Animal puppet that has Velcro on his hands and you can put your hand into his back and open his mouth and close his eyebrows. It was the eyebrows that used to scare the crap out of me cause it made him look evil as hell. I'd cry and hug the wall to get around the thing if it was in a hallway. Now tho I love the thing and it's stuffed in a box with all my other childhood favorite stuffed animals
