Yeah...well, I lobbied hard for Indy very early on during my membership with the GIJCC. Then I remember Brian Savage saying, "Why does everyone want the con in their hometown? Doesn't anyone want a vacation?" Well, say what you want about Brian, he presented a very interesting point.

There's a vacation and there's being able to AFFORD a vacation. If you can do "day trips" to a con, it makes it easier to afford to go to the con. Just saying

Con in my hometown means more $$$ for sketches. Miss having a 2 day VA Con with the guest lists they'd had in the last few years, could get a slew of art thanks to no hotel/dining overhead.

Darrell Taylor and JK Woodward interviewed Fred Van Lente for "JK's Happy Hour," and the conversation included talk about his upcoming run on Joe.

Look forward to listening to this.

The Sideshow Snakes is apparently shipping:

Not impressed at all with this. The side by side with the first version makes me wish they'd use that body with a commmando head. I do like the new Timber, though?

Other thoughts?

USA Today has a preview of Special Missions up:

I want the Igle cover, the others don't do much for me. Have to admit, the Gulacy art has real potential...better than some of the other stuff we've gotten in the last year or so for sure!

I've mentioned the podcast before, but Rowdy Roddy Piper's "Rod Pod" episode from 11/20 is him talking to Sgt. Slaughter. They mention the Joe figures created for them and Sarge talks extensively about his experience meeting Ronald Reagan.

This show has crummy production value and Roddy loses focus easily, but I love hearing him talk to the other old guys, especially somebody like Slaughter, who comes across as a really good egg.

Don't know how I've missed this blog until now:

Really, really, REALLY cool production art here, along with storyboards and other historical pieces. Will be spending a bit of time checking it out more this evening.

Shannon posted his pencils to the cover of RAH 188, based on a Hama sketch.

Awesome!

I'm not sure if I was on a wave that size I'd be on the radio. Then again maybe I would be praying i didn't drown after the zodiac flips :)
