Finished "The Comic Book History of Comics" yesterday. What a great read! Picked this up at Baltimore in the Star Joes room, really appreciate whomever donate it (maybe Travis?). A really interesting take on where comics came from and where they're headed in the digital age, I think the most education piece for me was about manga. Highly recommend.

Did some trading at Castle of Books:

Picked up a pile of early Excalibur
Started my collection of ROM the Spaceknight
Found issue 2 of the Starriors mini-series
Picked up a couple of old Avengers Issues
Passed on Marvel GI Joe #2 because it was in bad shape (no cover, yellow, torn)

Catching up on Daredevil trades 4 and 5 of the Mark Waid run. Very good!

Also reading the Mighty Thor trade drawn by Pascal Ferry, and the newer Thor with Esad Ribic on art, about the God Butcher. That series is AMAZING!

I have a lot of catching up to do with the trades I've got that still need to read. It's a bit ridiculous ;)

I completed the 11 issue Saga of Crystar run finally. I've had several issues throughout the years, but this is the first time I've had the whole run. I had no idea that Doctor Strange and Alpha Flight made guest appearances!

Started on Starriors and a few other 80's properties.

Bought some bags and boards and I've been organizing my comics. I found that I now have a good chunk of the original Marvel GI Joe run. Enough now that I have more "holes" than "runs" to fill.

GI Joe #194: Sorry Ryan, looks like blue ninjas are back...loving all the Joes and vehicles that Shannon was able to put in this issue, though.

GI Joe #8: Zandar and Zarana? Ugh. I'm really torn on this book.

Activity #15: Bounces between an op in the snow and one in the desert. With Edmondson and Gerads announced on the new Punisher book, wonder if next issue is the last? It's not even on the Image website for solicits...

Rocketeer/The Spirit - Pulp Friction #1: Not the best title, but it's Mark Waid and Paul Smith. Fun story, the art is tremendous.

I read the first trade of the new Deadpool (Marvel Now) book. I've never read a Deadpool book before, but this was really, really funny. Deadpool has to fight all the dead presidents who are resurrected by a necromancer that works for SHIELD. The story was great with amazing jokes, and the Tony Moore art was fun. The Geof Darrow covers were astounding, too. I would highly recommend this to anyone old enough to get Fred Travelena and Rich Little references. Great stuff.

I read After Life with Archie #1 and I think its really good. It seems like a bizarre mash-up to put Archie in an earnest horror story, but this first issue makes it look like a series that will be well worth getting.

I just finished Marvel's Infinity. I thought it was pretty good. I can't say that I was blown away by it, but I liked it well enough. Has anyone else read it? One thing about Infinity is that it seemed a little jumpy to me. I know that with these cross-overs they will put in little things to try and get you interested in buying the other comics to read more of the story, but this one seemed like they were trying to work it even harder to make you buy the cross-over issues. Anyone else feel that way?

So, is anyoen going to buy Inhumanity? I'm likely to skip it. I like some of the mini-series that come out, but it seems like they run one right into the other and I don't want to keep buying event, after event, after event. I need a little break. If I hear good things about it I might get a collected edition down the line, but I'm not rushing to get it now.

I just read Earth 2 #18. I've been way behind on reading Earth 2 and I've been wanting to see what's going on in that book. Eventually I need to pick up the back issues that I've missed, but I decided to get started again by picking up the most recent issue and jump in to see whats happening. And it was pretty awesome.

There's a psychotic Superman thats in the thrall of Darkseid, and he's flying around destroying everything. The Flash is desperately doing whatever he can to try and keep Superman occupied. For some reason Green Lantern is missing during this crisis. There's a new female Red Tornado whos an old friend. Alternate versions of a couple of other old characters are introduced, only they were villains, or at least they were being treated as villains. There's a Batman who is like a tank. And he doesn't have the same hang-ups as the Bruce Wayne that we've known in the main DCU. And he has some kind of plan to stop Superman, but damn it I have to wait until next month to find out what happens!

I can't wait for next issue.
