I'd replace the few items that had strong sentimental attachment for me, and just start over.
Actually that is exactly what I did when my ex-wife took my remaining comics at the time (various books 1975-1998), toys (a few original 80's Joes and a couple x-men figures from 90's) and CCG's (Magic original sets and some from Beta, Decipher Star Wars, etc). When we split all of this stuff "disappeared" and I just gave up trying to get it back. I replaced the few comics I could that held sentimental value, bought trades containing others, chalked the rest up to a lesson learned and started anew.
This is also part of the reason I'm buying a lot of digital now. Only the books that the collector in me must have are the ones I buy in print (GI Joe: RAH, Justice League for example), while the rest I buy digitally (Cobra, Firestorm, Witchblade, etc). If I lose everything again, atleast I still have the digital.
