I think the artwork was utterly amazing. The story by Bendis was great I just wish that the death of Professor X was a little more powerful. Maybe some flashback thoughts from both he and Scott of moments they've had in the past to really nail down how close they were at one time. Don't get me wrong. It was a powerful and tragic thing that happened and very dark. But there wasn't a lump in my throat moment that you'd expect from this event. But this takes nothing away from a great series and a great story.

Loved the the introduction to Hulk at the beginning. Just wish he was used a little more in the issue after that. It was pretty cool to see Wolverine ask Hulk to throw him old school Colossus style. Can't wait for Round 12!

I think I'm more bothered by the fact that they've clearly made a good vs side to this which isn't wholly unexpected.

I don't mind them killing Xavier but I hope Cyke isn't going to be treated a full on villain after AvX.

I liked the impassioned plea that Cap gave on the first page but Hulk only appeared twice in this issue and felt that he was wasted overall. If he hadn't had appeared then i don't think I would've missed him all that much.
As far as Charles's death, the entire issue was a fantastic build-up and I felt the emotion that Scott was feeling (he came across as a young boy who just wants approval for what he's done). However, why wrap his hands around Emma's neck to take the Phoenix power and not Xavier's? Wouldn't it have been a more powerful death to die literally at the hands of someone that he'd thought of as his son? I think I saw a review on another site with an image of the panel saying "Xavier killed by lightbulb". I did think that another way it could've gone down is that Emma kills Xavier (to provoke Scott in taking the Phoenix power from her), Scott in his grief gives Emma a beatdown and thus takes all the power and transform into Dark Phoenix. But to have Scott kill his mentor/father figure is just too good an opportunity to pass up.
The artwork is fantastic! That is all on that matter.
Apart from those two points (Hulk and Charles' death), this was probably my favourite issue of the series (next to Spider-Man's beatdown).
