I thought there was a torrenting comics argument (with Rob, of course) on the show, but maybe I misremembered it. I feel like I'm nearing the end of what I listened to back then.

And that brings up a question... when should I stop doing this? When I hit the 2012 episodes?
If we're not one, but two, are we evil or good? Do we walk the fine line that we'd cross if we could?

If you like doing it, keep it rolling. Since I never went back and relisten to any episode it's fun to jog the old memory of the finer details I've forgotten.

Roger that.

Anyone know if they ever reviewed the X-Men vs Fantastic Four mini? I thought Brian said he would, considering it actually has ramifications.

I don't remember us doing the X-Men vs FF stuff, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Keep doing it as long as it's fun, you've clearly got an audience in this thread!

Episode 85

Brian's been enjoying Madame Xanadu, and Rob's been enjoying Chew. Rob also likes Scott Pilgrim.

They unveil the Uncanny X-Cast app.

They mention this image:

Image

Someone calls in and brings up Rob's early X-Men Forever comments. Rob owes Brian a bust.

Rob is shocked X-Men Forever is being "renewed" for another season, but they seem to be done with it for the show.

With X-Force #24, Rob feels this is the flagship book. Brian says Selene is a great villain. Both agree that Clayton's art is gorgeous.

With Cable #24, the series is over. Both agree it was awful, but they like Hope. Ron wonders if there's ever been a series where only one thing happens over and over.

Brian admits X-Factor #202 is terrible.

Rob thinks a couple of people, or at least three, will die in Second Coming. Brian thinks it will be Nightcrawler and Cable. Rob agrees with this, "plus one random person."

They call a comic shop to get the "man on the street" perspective of the upcoming X-Men event.

They rip into UncannyXMen.net after being ripped into on their forums.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 86

"Peace talks" have occurred between the podcast and UncannyXMen.net. They liked the April Fool's joke with the fake Brian Perillo. Brian is also unbanned. The site is now bumped up to "Not Enemies of the Show".

Rob borrowed X-Factor #203, while Brian passed it. For the first time in a long time, Rob found the story to be a bit interesting.

They liked the Dani Moonstar solo story in New Mutants #11, but Rob is a bit disappointed, and scared that Asgard won't appear again in the book. Brian disagrees, and thinks it'll come sooner than Rob thinks.

They enjoyed the end of Necrosha, but felt it could have lasted a bit longer. Brian feels the conclusion was slightly overshadowed by Second Coming.

With Uncanny #522, Brian said: "Ho-hum, Kitty Pryde's back." Rob liked that the return didn't involve a villain or fighting. Rob was shocked with Kitty being stuck as intangible, while Brian responded with "been there, done that."

Rob thinks it's going to be Magneto versus Cyclops for leadership of the X-Men, and thinks the X-Men are going to split.

Brian: "Ohhh gosh, I hope that doesn't happen. It'll be confusing. Two teams of good X-Men..."
Rob: "There will be ones who want to stay on the island, and those that may want to assimilate back at some point."

(Once again, Rob has predicted Schism before it happens, even if a detail's off)

Brian thinks Second Coming is going to completely reverse "No More Mutants."

As far as the story/beginning of Second Coming, Rob called it "fucking awesome".

Smiley Robots showed up in Second Coming, and in the previous X-Factor retros. Rob notes this is very odd as this keeps happening.

Brian on the possibility of Nightcrawler dying: "...That's the biggest cop-out in comics."

Rob still thinks it's Cable who's going to die. Brian agrees plus someone else.

Rob reacts with laughter and disbelief to news of the new adjective-less X-Men, and X-Men fighting vampires "This is the dumbest shit I've ever heard."

Brian jokes this could be the end of the podcast. Rob says he will interview the writer as Count Nefaria if Nefaria isn't in the first issue.

Regarding the Peter David X-Factor comments and people applauding him, Rob jokes: "We're just out of touch with the X-Fans."

Brian thinks X-Men vs Vampires is inspired by Twilight. Brian feels discouraged by the news od the vampires, new X-Force, etc.

Rob on the Retros: "It's so weird watching Apocalypse be a guy that could not have created Age of Apocalypse."
If we're not one, but two, are we evil or good? Do we walk the fine line that we'd cross if we could?

Episode 87

The enjoyed Second Coming's Uncanny #523 and New Mutants #12. Rob called them "fantastic". Brian feels like they're playing for keeps. Rob likes Hope, but worries they are going to ruin her after the event. Rob.

Destiny's Diary: Rob believes Bishop is going to show up, and kill Bastion. Brian disagrees.

With X-Men Forever #15-20, Rob thinks Claremont is kicking enough ass on this book to get back on Uncanny.

Destiny's Diary: Rob thinks Nick Fury won't from X-Men Forever 2 #2 on.

In Retro reviews, they've started Fall of the Mutants.

The consensus was that it was powerful when the X-Men died, but lessened when they were brought back a panel or so later.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 88

They are giddy over news that Count Nefaria will appear in New Avengers Finale.

Rob is mad that Nightcrawler's death was spoiled for him on Twitter.

They are sill loving Second Coming, with Brian saying he's "all in." They agree it's kind of like a big brawl, but it's interesting. They like Shan getting her leg blown off and Ariel getting killed.

They felt the Nightcrawler death scene was good, but telegraphed beyond belief.

Brian thinks when all looks bleak, Hope will "go Phoenix on people's asses."

In Retros, we reach the death of Cypher. A song is sung in his honor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 89

Brian finally Mad Dog's the intro. (Something interesting to me as a fan of WFAN is that they can't stand Francessa by himself)

Astonishing Xenogenesis may be the worst thing Brian has read for the show. Rob didn't hate it, and Brian is shocked.

They love that Cypher is coming to the rescue in Second Coming.

Destiny's Diary
: Brian says Cypher will survive this event, while Rob thinks otherwise.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 90

They interview Chris Yost again.

Episode 91

In On Shelves Now, Brian has six buys, Rob had five. Pretty high numbers for both individually, and combined.

In Second Coming, Rob thinks Magneto is reverting a bit back to his old ways. Cypher continues to kick ass. No one is surprised Cable died, but they feel it was well-done. Brian felt the final issue could have been slightly better with some captions, with the action going from place to place.

They disagree that the Hope relationship helped to characterize Cable.

Rob thinks Hope is related to someone in X-lore. Maybe she'sMaddie Pryor's kid. Brian thinks, ans likes, that's she's just a new mutant.

Without Yost, they're prepared to hate Uncanny X-Force.

Brian hates Karma's bionic leg, but agrees with Rob that once you know they have the technology to do it, it had to be done.

Both agree the X-Factor tie-ins were useless.

Rob liked the Death of Dracula one-shot.

They actually liked X-Men #1: Curse of the Mutants. Rob likes seeing Jubilee again. And they like Paco Medina's art despite being wary of it in the past.

Rob is kind of excited about this series, while Brian isn't quite sold yet.

They laughed at the eroticism of X-Women.

We get some roleplay with Count Nefaria interviewing Curse of the Mutants writer, "Victor Gischler".

In retros, they've started Excalibur. It's not off to a strong start.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 92

With casting news of Darwin, Angel, and Azazel in X-Men: First Class, they think the movie is going to be horrible.

Brian notes Rob has had some shitty predictions in the past, an his track record "sucks". (In my estimation, Rob has gotten some of the biggest predictions correct, sometimes without doing a formal prediction, which he rarely received credit for)

They think X-Factor #207 is great. They're glad they finally addressed the Shatterstar-Rictor relationship.

Rob thinks Wolfsbane will be back with the New Mutants eventually.

With Uncanny #526, they like that Hope is a catalyst for mutant powers. Rob keeps pushing the theory that she's a Summers.

Brian thinks it would be interesting if people started following Magneto.

Rob hates Legacy #238. "Mammomax is dead and I'm reading Indra?!"

Brian: "Emma's been redeemed... she's not turning back."
Rob: "I'm sure you said the same thing about Magneto back in '87."

In both Uncanny and New Mutants #15, Brian doesn't like Cypher's new, emotionless personality. Rob thinks it differentiates him from the others.

Brian likes the new limbo soldiers, while Rob does not, admitting he doesn't usually care for new villains.

In Astonishing #34, they have a brief argument over the Beast-Cyclops scene. Rob feels it's repetitive and doesn't fit, while Brian is glad to actually have a scene like that make sense and fleshed out.

With X-Men #2, Rob is still liking it. Brian is not, and feels that the only cool stuff is the Jubilee stuff.

Brian: "186 mutants aren't going to help out the Vampire cause all that much. It's not that many."
Rob: "There were only five mutants in 1960, yet people were building robot armies to stop them."

Brian predicts Dracula will come back and take over the vamp army, and by issue four, Rob will be down on Victor Gischler's X-Men.

In Retros, we reach Weekend at Cypher's. While Brian hated the story when he first read it years ago, he liked it this time around.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 93

Rob finds it weird that Cyclops hasn't mentioned anything about Havok, who's still in space.

Uncanny #527
, Rob hopes Emma's hanging out with Shaw and acting weird because she saw a glimpse of Jean, and knows her time is up.

New Mutants #16
, Rob admits he was wrong about the new villains. He thinks they're great now.

Rob loved Gambit/Storm, while Brian is in disbelief.

Rob on X-Factor #208: "I am back on board with this."

But since it's comics, if he keeps predicting it, sooner or later he'll be right.

I wonder what the tally is between Brian's predictions and Rob's coming to fruition. I used to think Brian was in the lead up until these last few recaps.

Episode 94

We have the all-new, all-different Uncanny X-Cast, with Peter Rios from CGS, Jen from Spider-Cast, Woody Briscoe, Count Nefaria, and of course, Brian.

Nefaria: "We are the vasectomy and anti-Twilight podcast.

Collectively, they didn't care for Wolverine #1 and loved X-Force: Sex and Violence.

Peter Rios getting bitten is hilarious.
Nefaria: Peter look behind you. Someone is signing up for Super Show."

Also hilarious, Jen gets taken by Department H.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 95

Brian has seen the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest heroes shorts and is excited for the series.

They actually liked Xenogenesis #2. They just didn't care for the art or that the Ghost Boxes were brought up.

They loved X-23 #1.

Rob loves X-Men #3. Both like vampire Jubilee. Both miss the Red/Gold team, and are stymied as to why this is yet another book with the same core X-Men.

In Uncanny X-Men #528, Brian is tired of Namor in this book. Rob is tired of Kitty upstaging Emma. Rob is surprised to hear that Hope is getting a book.

They cover New York Comic Con 2010 news.

Rob on the upcoming Generation Hope: "Over/under 12 issues." He clearly thinks the book won't last.

The homages to issues 67 and 94 were great. Woody Briscoe was hilarious in the latter. Speaking of homages, I wonder if Count Nefaria will commit suicide in a double-sized Episode 137. Could that finally lead into a second clip show for Episode 138 where Rob spends most of the episode eulogizing Count Nefaria?
