Count Nefaria can never die.
If we're not one, but two, are we evil or good? Do we walk the fine line that we'd cross if we could?

Episode #96

New Mutants Forever #1-3 was both a disappointment and a waste of time.

For Brian, Xenogenisis #3 sucked, and had the lame Excalibur villain Jaspers.

Rob thinks Wolverine #2 was stupid. Yukio is awesome, and it sucks that she died in this "god-awful run." Brian thinks the shadowy guy could be Wolverine's father.

[In b]X-Men #4[/b], Rob thinks Wolverine is faking vampirism. Brian feels that not only is he faking it, but he was sent on a mission by Cyclops to infiltrate the vampires. It does have nice art, so both had it as a borrow.

Brian thought Uncanny X-Force #1 was good. Rob doesn't understand all the praise for this book. Rob doesn't like Psylocke and Angel suddenly being together.

They chat with radio Eddie. Eddie agrees girls dressing up in costume is hot, but it doesn't extend into role-playing.

In Retros, they loved this second Brood saga (Uncanny #232-234). Brian really loved that you can see teh start of Maddie Pryor's transformation into the Goblin Queen.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 97

They talk about the Walking Dead show. They love it.

Rob and Brian have reversed on Legacy #241. Brian had it as a pass, while Rob felt Indra and the kids were actually fleshed out.

In Uncanny #529, the feral kid is their favorite of the five lights.

X-23 #2
was fine, except for it being a part of Wolverine goes to Hell.

X-Factor #210 had good character development with no Madrox in sight. Rob feels the book had heart again. They address the criticism of their previous negativity of Peter David. While justified before, they feel he has turned the corner now.

New Mutants #18 was great. Rob feels like the Inferno babies are the New Mutants' version of the Children. (That's a compliment) Doug finally has a good haircut, and both agree this book is fantastic.

On the X-Phone, they chat with Kelly, who won a nationwide Hooter's costume contest as Kitty Pryde.

In Retro Reviews, Rob actually liked Excalibur #1. Brian is surprised, and thinks those goof feelings won't last long.

Had a feeling putting the picture up was a good idea.

Mythmakingetc has inspired me to jot down something about each of the On Shelves Now they cover. Let's see how long this lasts before I get lazy.

Episode 98

Brian: "I hate it when we go downhill before the opening credits."
Rob: "What are you talking about? it's all downhill."

Rob thought Generation Hope #1 was amazingly good. He's excited about this series. Brian disagreed, and feels none of the characters stood out.

Rob on Generation Hope: "I would not be surprised if people liked this."

Rob felt New Mutants Forever #4 was "unbelievably bad". Brian agrees.

On a related note, Brian has been catching up with X-Men Forever. While it's still technically a borrow, it's "really good".

With Wolverine #3, Brian feels that "this is every Wolverine story rolled up into one." They feel it is lazy writing, and the whole story is lame. They're also tired of Mystique in Jason Aaron's Wolverine.

They do an X-Men Mount Rushmore for both creators and characters.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 99

They get an award for being in the top 100 literature podcasts.

They talk about the Walking Dead tv show. Brian likes it more than Rob. Brian wishes it would follow the books more.

X-Men #5 is a disaster. Rob calls it a "cataclysmic implosion if shit." Brian was proven right about Wolverine. It was still stupid.

Uncanny #530 was all over the place. Brian is tired of one event contradicting the other, like this book not referencing the vampire invasion, and this virus not being mentioned anywhere else.

X-23 #3
had a dream sequence that was way too long. Otherwise it has good art and writing. They hate that it has the Wolverine goes to Hell banner. Brian does concede that it's good this book references other events... but Rob wishes they was a good event!

X-Factor #211 was okay.

Rob actually likes X-Force #2. He is glad that he got the Angel-Psylocke conversation he wanted last time.

They disagreed on Legacy #242. Rob admits he is high on Hope.

New Mutants #19 is their book of the week. They are sad Zeb Wells is leaving.

2010 YEAR END AWARD SHOW
Breakout character - Rob - Hope, Brian - Hellion
Comeback character - Rob - Vanisher, Brian - Psylocke
Best Villain - Brian - Bastion, Rob - Inferno Children
Worst Character - Rob - Prof. X, Brian - Nightcrawler
MVP - Rob - X-23, Brian - Rogue
Best Writer - Brian - Zeb Wells, Rob - Peter David
Best Artist - Brian - Mike Choi, Rob - Greg Land
Best mini/one-shot - Brian, Rob - X-Force: Sex and Violence
Worst issue - Rob - Uncanny #526, Brian - Legacy #230
Best issue - Rob - New Mutants #19, Brian - X-Force #26
Worst ongoing - Rob, Brian - Astonishing and X-Men
Best ongoing - Rob, Brian - New Mutants
Biggest disappointment - Rob - lack of storyline on leadership, Brian - no resolution to Hope and X-Force ending.
Best moment - Rob - Hope takes everyone out, Brian p Inferno babies take New Mutants out.

In the Retros, Brian realizes he may have been wrong about the Outback era of X-Men not being that good.
If we're not one, but two, are we evil or good? Do we walk the fine line that we'd cross if we could?

Episode 100

The Rise and Fall of the Uncanny X-Cast

Hosted by "Stan Lee".

This entire episode is awesome, and a real treat for longtime fans. Hell, I almost feel like a longtime fan after going through all these episodes.

Fitting about the title, since these guys started with the Rise and Fall of the Shiar Empire storyline.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 101

Rob gets a package from Robert Atkins. It's a page of art, with Rob drawn into a G.I. Joe issue. He's so excited and giddy.

They talk about vasectomies and manscaping.

X-Factor #212 was okay. They're a little tired of the Hela storyline. They note they like the book better when there is good art on it.

Uncanny X-Force #3 is Rob's book of the week. Brian this book is grittier than the others. Rob actually likes these Final Horsemen, and thinks he likes Fantomex.

X-Men #6
was awful. Brian: "Is there anything more unnecessary than this book?"

Brian on the X-Men being unable to cure vampirism: "We cured a guy last issue. Don't tell me there's no cure!"

Rob thinks vampire Jubilee could be interesting.

With Legacy #243, they like the Omega Sentinel thing. Brian's a bit disappointed that Hellion is going down a predictable path. Rob thinks we will see a new Hellions team soon.

New Mutants #20 was a bit of a let down for Rob, with him not being excited by giant Limbo demons. Rob feels tired of Limbo demons coming after Magik, but this could just be because of the Retros.

Rob on New Mutants: "The Legion stuff, do you care? Are you really ready for that again?"

In Uncanny #531, Rob was proven right about Wolverine suffering from Adamantium poisoning when his healing factor is removed.

Chaos War: X-Men was a "piece of shit."

They do a Inside the Mansion on Jubilee.

Rob acts surprised about Jubilee's tenure with a New Warriors team, proving how forgettable those books were. (He actually had a run of those books earlier in the podcast after hearing about them)

In the Retros, Excalibur #2 has some good character stuff that is brought down by hokey bits. Issue three was fantastic.

There was a whole episode 100 subplot about Rob killing my co-host and taking his place because Brian had fired him. It was pretty funny, right up until it didn't get included on the show.

Agreed. You could probably make a whole episode out of all the submissions for episode 100.

Some are hanging out on there own podcast forum page and can still be found there.

Clees can be found in the Dingo Ate My Podcast and The Big One page

Zero_ice has yet to show up on these forums but his postings kind of tailed off anyway.

Mistress Lebeau can be found in the Cutural Wormhole and Dingo pages.

Steel has yet to show up.

Me, chkenparm, Phillies64, Shaw, and a few others I'm blanking on from 100 are still are hanging out here though. :)

The forum jumping is rough. We've heard from all those people (Ice is still active on Facebook I believe, and emails). Steel god bless her got into college and seems to be an awesome college version of the kid we loved. My biggest hope is she's too busy for us :)

Chevy pretty much nailed the rest. I definitely think all shows have been hurt by the splintering of the CGS forums. It's awesome that Russel stepped up and housed us all here, but getting a really active community is hard enough without forums up and down, then moving, plus being able to communicate through about 5 other networks.
