X-men # 30

Postby resha » Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:12 pm

Just read this issue. It Brian Wood's first issue on this book and I gotta say that it's a huge improvement from any Victor Gischler issue I read. Just wondering if anyone else thought the same or read this issue yet.

The positive: I like that he's getting rid of the whole team-up thing and Storm might actually show some characterization for first time in 5+ years.

The negative: The story was kind of meh and what was with Colossus? It was like the writer forgot he's Juggerlossus.

True Storm showed her leadership chips chops, I haven't seen that since I started reading again.PIxie teleporting from point to point was pretty cool.

I liked it when Jean and Scott got married.....oh wait, not that X-Men #30?

Nah, I gave up on adjectiveless months ago. Not early enough to miss the terrible Skull the Slayer story though.....

this was about as exciting as marjorie liu's first issue of astonishing x-men. just another plot driven book. aside from their powersets, you couldn't tell colossus, storm, psylocke or domino apart. pixie was the only one who had a voice, and that was only for two seconds while asking questions of storm. all this does is tell us, storm's the leader and pixie is the audience character. we're introduced to the concept of this new team through her. that's great, and was sorely missing from gischler's arcs, but so far, this book hasn't earned it's cover price.

i will say this though... at least Someone is addressing the idea of mutants not being an 'evolutionary' thing. i'm hoping it gets adopted through editorial, throughout the other books over the next year or two. but i can see it going the way of the lupines.

We should rename this thread just Xmen for adjectiveless

any who #31, I still feel like I have to clue what going on but it's a little better. I do wish some of the other team members got more "screen" time.

I liked this issue.Maybe late in the game X-men is getting interesting.I'm actually want to know who this "villain" is & what his agenda is, re-creating Proto-mutants.

Loving what Wood is doing, so far. I'm a huge Storm fan and he's actually having her take an active role, instead of just hanging around in the background.

I haven't read this issue yet BUT I feel as though Marvel should never have made that Xavier solo book or that Rogue solo book...Oh I mean Xmen Legacy. They should never have messed with the Xmen title or the Uncanny title. Fanboy rant over, I shall return once I read issue 30

X-men # 34

Postby MJStarchilde » Sat Aug 25, 2012 2:32 am

ah man I laughed my ass off at a couple of pages in issue 34, when the Ladies teleported onto the shift. The cult thing could be interesting, I just hate to get too invested in a story that may not exist with the Marvel Now.
