ALL NEW X-MEN (formerly Uncanny X-Men)

Sure, it isn't standing as tall as it should right now, but it IS the flagship X-Book. Thoughts?

I've been consistently "meh" about the roster, the art, and the characterization over the past few months. The latest issue (#14) struck me as more enjoyable than most of the run has been. Ironically, this issue didn't even feature any X-Men...

The art in this issue really appealed to me, and felt weirdly appropriate considering the POV & setting of the issue.

I'm just waiting for Bendis to take over at this point. I don't expect him to do the best job, but certainly better than Gillen.

And not to say Gillen can't write. I've been enjoying Journey Into Mystery ever since Fear Itself. That says a lot, because I absolutely can't stand Thor or Asguard, but I can't help but think kid Loki is cool, and Gillen knows how to write for that character and that universe.

But he can't write X-men. All he's done this entire run, is write the same arrogant spuedo-intelligent bad guy from outside our concept of space and time, and put him in different characters. Apex, Unit, Cytorak, the leader of the breakworld refugees, the splintered phalanx, and Sinister. They all talk like the same annoying person. They try to talk down to the x-men, and most know more about the Phoenix, than anyone else does. It hasn't progressed or accomplished anything. There is no change in the pace, or tone. Just the same annoying bad guy in a different alien/monster body. It kind of works for Sinister and his character, but when all the other bad guys Gillen writes sound like Sinister, then it's no fun.

I liked it. Gillen does do a good job of writing Sinister. The cliffhanger makes it sound like it could be a very interesting next issue with all those Maddy clones.

Yep; I haven't looked forward to an issue of Uncanny this much in a long time.

Quick question: Is this the first we've seen of the Sinister Nation? Or is this a concept that was created in the books a while ago?

In the first arc after the renumbering he created a Sinister Carnival. That's it a far as I can remember.

Guess there's not much to say on this one.I want to see more of the rest of the team.Magneto' been locked in that room forever.It would suck to be part of a teAm and be left by the way side staring at the a monitor.

I'm picking up my copy of the latest issue tomorrow. I'm eager to see if there's any Sinister vs Phoenix-5 action. Actually, I guess it's Phoenix FOUR now, right?

I wasn't loving Uncanny before the canceled it are started it over, so I haven't read any of the new series. To me, Wolverine & the X-Men is now the flagship book.

Dropping Uncanny was really difficult, (This is the first time since I started reading comics that I'm not reading Uncanny) but comics cost too much now for me to read something I don't like. Plus, there are so many other X books that I can read and do like.

I wish they never re numbered the title. Is Uncanny Xmen being canceled/suspended in Oct when the Marvel Now starts?

Just finished the latest Uncanny X-Men. Instead of feeling joy, I actually got a little angry reading this book.

It pretty much embodied everything negative in the whole AvX event. This issue was fucking POINTLESS. The issue comes out WEEKS after the latest AvX issue, so readers already fucking know nothing worthwhile is going to happen. WHY DID I BUY THIS? WHAT WAS I THINKING?

I used to look forward to picking up new issues of Uncanny, but this was some bullshit. Yeah, yeah, Sinister "Dies". What the fuck EVER, man. I know he'll be back, so what was the fucking point. I want my money and the three minutes it took me to read this garbage back.
