I was rooting for the X-Men before this started but Cyke has officially gone insane & he has to be stopped. He thinks the Phoenix can be controlled the Phoenix let's you control it for as long as it want's you to & then when it don't it will tear you apart.

It seems Wanda is going to play a major role in the outcome which is good it all started with her & it would be fitting for it to end with her.

The Wolverine & the X-Men recent issue was pretty brutal I've actually been liking that more then the actual A v X book, & The scene between Warbird & Booby was great 1st Kitty now Warbird Bobby is getting all the ladies.

AvX is a mess. It started as a mess, it continues as a mess. Cyclops is wearing a bright red g-string over his leather pants. Namor is wearing sleeves without a shirt. Cats and dogs living together.

Yep it is a total mess. Having to many writers makes some things make no sense and plots are just dropped off. One issue has Beast leaving the Avengers and the next he's back with them with no explanation. In issue 0 Wanda is not aloud to join the Avengers and now she just joins back with no expiation. It reads like one of those books where a few writers take turns on each chapter.

This might be the worst event i've read so far.

Cyke saw his own daughter being able to control the Phoenix so he believe's they can too. It's not smart but I wouldn't call it insane

I started the series hoping for it to eventually turn great. For a minute there, I thought my hopes would be realized.

Now, I feel like I'm stuck on a long, uncomfortable car ride with the ultimate destination being the "Marvel: NOW!" re-launch.

It's not fun, but it's too late to turn the car around.

It's kind of funny- my favorite X-Book is Uncanny X-Force, which also happens to be the only X-book I'm reading that hasn't been tainted by AvX.

It feels exactly like Flashpoint did. First couple of issues OK, with some questionable plotting, devolving into no one caring at all (apparently) about the story because getting to the relaunch was all that really mattered.

Figure I would just cash in my two cents on this event so far among other X titles so anything specific I get into thats not AvX related please respond to the proper comic thread as a way to not clutter this one. As always spoilers and IMO will be rampant throughout.

FIrst things first to me I feel that the way this started it should'nt have been a huge Marvel crossover event. Instead this should have been soley a huge X-Men Event. As far as any is concern this is X-Men centric it deals with things that are going shape the title for the shortterm near future. You have Astonishing, and X-Men that has no contiuity with any going's on of the main X titles so why am I reading them so I can be more confused you dont need stories like that. One shots are a great way to get other stories out their without cluttering up a hard enough story to follow. Uncanny X Force still one of the best and love where its going but can it tie in to just a little about whats going on with AvX and not just WATXM which dont get me wrong I am glad they at least refrence between those two books. As far as the New AoA series though it spawned from Uncanny X Force it still just makes me yearn for Original AoA run maybe if they do something in the pages in X Force to hook me but right now the books snail like pace has me at a stand still. Now the flaship two titles and legacy who are focal pointing on the actual event. With Uncanny really love the way they are building this up cant give enough praise with the way they have established Sinister in this run which shows why he is one of the X-mens most deadlyist foes. Not to mention clones galore on a side note (how can Xmen do semi good clone stories and spiderman can't) but with the Maddy's a thought on it as well if im not mistaken in Inferno she defies Sinister to the point where you would think he would deem a failure. Are these clones superior or the original with a doublecrossing mentality. With the panels and such limited space to get your character and story across along with a multitude of writers and artist its hard to maintain consistency. Hence with the time and space they could of done mostly the same stuff but make it that much more about our core mutants. A big thing people clamoring about is what the other Xer's think and we barely know. Your getting the shiar involve which anytime the Phoenix is a concern and they have to almost have thier own miniseries to get whatever they want across space. So with these titles heading in the direction its going Im not hating it but im looking for some huge middle of an event shakeups and all this will lead to the end and then the start of Marvel Now. I think I will be happy when we go back to actual correct numbering, New good teams mixture of old and new, they stop teasing Jean Grey, Xavier does something, good solid story telling and art. been awhile nuff said

Wow. AvX #8 was actually pretty good. :? That was unexpected.

Spoilers, I guess:

Seeing Namor get the shit punched out of him was fucking AWESOME. :D  :D

Even if he recovered right away, I got an almost visceral jolt of glee at watching Red Hulk, then Thing, then Thor smack the fuck out of him. And after Stark & Cap's little Deus Ex-Machina move, dude's gonna have some explaining to do.

And the arm-busting move... BRUTAL.

I'm glad to see Professor X back in the mix as well. I don't know how it's gonna go down, but it looks like daddy's home to give Mr. Summers a well-deserved spankin'.

And now, I just realized that I spent the issue rooting for the X-Men to get their asses kicked, while I went into this thing wishing for the exact opposite. :?

Well played, Bendis.

It doesn't excuse the problems I had with the series thus far, but well played.

Well Scott didnt give orders for the Wakanda destruction, but he did have a choice to stand down when he found out.The issue was again an eye sore to get through.I think Uncanny X-Force is the only book successfully pulling of these "Bam bam bam" scenes.Im sure that's due to the artist as much as the writer, but here: No!. Starting of with a full page spread annoyed me as well.It was so in your face. But then again could be cause I read it at 2am. I'm not into AvX anymore, I'd rather read 50 Shades of Grey now.

I agree that the art & panel layout in this issue left something to be desired. There were some panels that I had to study for a minute to figure out what the artist was trying to depict. Still, two things helped me look past the uneven art: First, there was the introduction of a few story elements that I actually found interesting. Second, I felt like I finally got some real payoff for the time I've invested in the series.

It's like the story has been struggling along like a car trapped in mud. The tires have been spinning & flinging mud everywhere, but no matter how much gas we've given it, it's only managed to lurch forward a few feet or so before getting stuck again. This issue, it felt like the story finally got some actual traction under the tires. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I feel like we've finally gotten un-stuck from the mud pit.

I'm actually kind of excited about checking out the next issue. My fingers are crossed that we don't get another bunch of filler this time.

Eric before I was even done reading I thought, " I admire his optimism." The book got interesting with Infinite 2 but I didn't see anything in the actual AvX that was as interesting. I'm leaning toward, what others had said, and why would the phoenix by pass Rachel?

Listening to the latest X-Cast, and the guest got me to thinking about how this series will wrap up, and how it will lead into Marvel Now. Here's what I think is going to happen:

Scott is going to come to his senses at the last minute and die in some heroic fashion. Or how about this: Not only Scott, but Bobby, Hank, and "blank-slate Angel" die in some heroic fashion. This would clear the stage for the introduction of the Bendis time-jumping X-Men. In doing this, Marvel would give the AvX series a grande finale without loosing the core of the team. We'd still have the Original X-Men (Plus Jean!), but they'd be younger versions of themselves.

...Actually, the more I think about this, the more certain I am that it's going to happen. In a lot of ways, this would be preferable to having 2 Scotts, 2 Angels, 2 Ice Men, and 3 beasts floating around the Marvel U.
