He kind of did that in SWORD but no one bought it so Marvel put him on Uncanny. Sounds logical right. :)

Now the wait to see if Bendis can save the day instead of another up and comer.

Now there's a statement from Rob:

"I doubt I could pull off a threesome"

I hadn't realised the debate had evolved to 3 dudes

Episode 131

Postby JonathanCrites » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:53 pm

This is my first episode to comment on in a long time and I had several thoughts.

- Rob, I consider most people, even people dedicated to their church or creed as 'functional' atheists. Being that whether they are believers, atheists, agnostics or something in between, they do not live their lives in a way that acknowledges God exists whatsoever.

- Hunger Games the book was good, not great. It is a knockoff of several stories and the one I immediately thought of was Ender's Game. It immediately went down a peg in my book due to the first person perspective. Haven't seen the film yet. I honestly think one of the concepts that has fueled its popularity is the weird romance/not a romance subplot. I do find irony in y'all bemoaning the rise in popularity of YA lit after doing 100+ episodes of a comic book podcast :).

- In regards to reading the X-books and listening to the show; I have been listening for years without reading the X-books. I had one period a few years ago where I read the first five volumes of Essential X-Men. I've dabbled a few times in the current stuff but that's it.

- Rob, how is that Braves pick in the NL East feeling after their torrid start?

- No mention of the new forums or did I just miss it?

One thing I noticed when they were talking about the terrible villains in Uncanny - I think the X-Men just have too good of a rehabilitation record. You think about Spider-Man, you have Green Goblin, Doc Ock, etc....but X-Men, who do you have? Magneto, Hellfire Club, Juggernaut, Sentinels, Apocalypse.

There's not a Sentinel on the team yet, but everyone else is in the fold...Magneto is on the X-Tinction team (which is the worst name ever btw), Emma is too, Shaw is on Generation Hope, Juggernaut's powers are in Colossus, Apocalypse is a kid that goes to the Jean Grey School.....come on! Xavier's dream kills all the good villains by making them part of the team!

I'm thinking by Uncanny #30 or so, the Immortal Man will be a team member......lol.

A Sentinel was on the team at the end of Morrison's run.

Crites: My Braves pick is the fastest a pick has looked awful. Also - new forums mentioned at the end, if you missed it you should definitely listen :)

BTW, Rob, why aren't you reading Spider-Man yet? It's been almost entirely great since the relaunch. They just started the next big story arc 2 issues ago, w/ Doc Ock & the Sinister Six. It deals with threads they've been laying out for a couple years, but if you know the Spider-Man basics you'll be fine. Do it.
