Hi everyone! Brand new "poster" here, but I just listened to every single X-Cast from the very beginning, and after about a year or so, I'm finally caught up! It's really cool finally getting to hear about things that are going on RIGHT NOW as oppose to things that happened years/months ago. Now I gotta try to get use to listening to 1 show every few weeks instead of 1 every day!
I guess I'll share a little bit about my X-History. I started reading around the same time the 90s cartoon came out. I loved the cartoon, so I eventually made my way to the comics.
Eventually my comic book-buying habits became more and more scattered, especially after Age of Apocalypse. I do remember reading an article in Wizard Magazine about the changes that were going to be made to the X-Men (I'm talking about the now infamous Grant Morrison run), and the artwork and overall direction didn't appeal to me at all. I still preferred my X-Men in blue and gold I guess.
Fast forward to about 2 years ago.....I stumbled upon Whedons Astonishing X-Men trades at a bookstore, started reading it and I just LOVED everything about it. And how's this for IRONIC.....after that I read Morrison's New X-Men run, and I actually LOVED that too! I guess with age, I learned to appreciate good writing/storytelling as oppose to just pretty artwork, so it was much easier to embrace the Morrison run.
So at this point I was hooked. I managed to get caught up on all the important crossovers from House of M to Schism. The only books I haven't read are X-Factor and New Mutants, but based on the comments I hear on the show, I'm not in a big rush to start.
Right now I love Wolverine and the X-Men and Uncanny X-Force. I'm glad I'm not the only one who things Uncanny X-Men has been lackluster, but I think issues 10 and 11 weren't bad at all...maybe because of the AvX tie-in, which I am enjoying so far. Astonishing, Adjectiveless, and Legacy are hit-and-miss for me.
So that's pretty much it. Looking forward to more episodes of the X-Cast and geeking out with other X-Fans on this forum!
