That has never happened. Therr is no measurable upswing of comic sales following the release of a big comic movie. And the comic companies--the big 2, at least--don't care.

Hey Guys,

I thought issue 3 was good stuff! The x-men pulled a slick one on the Avengers, and Capn and Wolverine going at it was awesome!

Anyone reading the Avenger tie in comics? I started laughing big time when in the one Avengers issue....Beast lays the smack down on Captain Britain for screwing up.....it was too funny.

Anyone like Versus? Pretty lame endings, but lets face it, they weren't even real victories in any sense of the word....Eric got distracted and Namor is flying out of the water at the end like a madman. Yeah, the next versus battles not looking in the XTeams favor at all......

Good point on the movie....truly my deepest fear in this whole thing....Xmen get hammered to show off the Avengers and their movie.

Later!

So is Wolverine's and Caps fight on the plane going to be on avx vs, lol. The last part of that scene in AvX #3 was hilarious.

The money isn't from the comics. Comics as a whole sell, at most, around 100k, 110k per issue--and that's to retailers, not to readers. So actual readership is some percentage less than 100% of that number. Even a crappy cartoon can get 10x that audience, minimum, and 20x or more the advertising dollars. All the comics are is IP placeholders for movies, TV shows, cartoons, and merchandising. Doesn't mean comics aren't fun/good/worthwhile, but they're in the business of making money, not making Spider-Man. If Spider-Man comics make money, awesome, but if he doesn't, they're not that worried about it, either.

Beats me. I hope the story doesn't stray too far, though.

I was thinking about how the phoenix thing would play into Scarlet Witch and my best guess isn't that she will bond with the phoenix. That would kind of invalidate Hope's importance in this story. Rather, I think either Scarlet Witch will do something to manipulate the phoenix energies in order to undo 'no more mutants'. Or far more likely, Hope will bond with the phoenix and use Scarlet Witches powers to undo the damage herself. Though, I'm sure either redemption or death is in the cards for SW some how.

Also I thought AVX 0 was bland. The Hope story was kinda stupid but I also cant help but recall thinking it made Hope look crazy and bad ass.
AVX 1-2 were good but kind of abrupt. I feel like there was almost no lead in to the conflict and even though we are 3 issues in (if 0 counts that is) they haven't really made much reference to SW at all despite Children's Crusade leading into this event and seemingly making SW an central character.

AVX Versus 1 was some bullshit. I thought the Magneto/Iron Man fight was kinda cool but the Namor/Thing fight was really stupid. I'm glad I didn't buy that issue.
Currently Reading (in order of importance): AvX, Batwing, Batman, Uncanny X-Force, Wolverine & the X-men, Uncanny X-men, Amazing Spider-man, X-men Legacy, Avengers

Because I'm dumb, I'm reading all of it. And it's all dumb. There's no substance to this story as of yet. 3 issues, and it's just superheroes being dicks for no real reason; or acting wildly out of character. My biggest gripe remains with Cyclops forgetting that the Phoenix Force does nothing but blow stuff up and start fires. But Wolverine's out of character, too, by not being all adoptive father with Hope. Something big better come from all this, or it's going to be a complete waste of everyone's time and effort.

Captain America taking the time to type up a big Word document with everyone's assignments in AvX 3 was funny, though.

While the problem I have with it is the whole story hinges on the idea that the Avengers (and Wolverine) believe that the arrival of the Phoenix is going to be disastrous. But given that the Phoenix has been to Earth several times before and no such thing has happened, they have no terribly obvious reason to believe that. Rachael even points this out and leaves to help Cyclops because of this. Major plot problems.

Also it's funny Wolverine doesn't want the kids the fight be he has no problem with killing them if they show any sign of villainism(made up word). Cap being the guy trying to kidnap a kid even has to point out how crazy Wolverine is being.
