The AoA Nightcrawler mini looks cool; I'm going to pick it up. But what I really want to see out of Marvel NOW is what lies ahead for Sam, Roberto, and Dani. I'd like to see these characters shake off the "New Mutants" aura once and for all and take the step into becoming full-fledged Big Guns. I think I remember seeing Sam and Roberto featured on the cover for the Avengers re-launch. It would be kick-ass to have them become part of the main Avengers team. :)

well you're in luck eric. i'm pretty sure they're becoming avengers! maybe not like... THE avengers. but it'll still count. more than when during the final battle in an Event rogers yells out, "i consider you All avengers!" i mean, that really doesn't count. but we should get to see the brazilian get his due and some legit cannonball for the first time in awhile.

moonstar's popping up in New Defenders, but no word on if she'll be staying. it'll be a book about Valkyrie and Misty Knight leading a rotating cast of lady heroes.

Cool. :) One day, I'd like to see an X-Men book featuring Cannonball, Sunspot, and Mirage/Valkyrie as central leading characters. I think the "new" mutants have earned their stripes by now.

Looks like I'll have to catch up with "X-Treme X-Men." I dropped it after the first issue. "Age of Apocalypse" has been good but "Astonishing X-Men" is long past it's glory days. I have mediocre hopes that this crossover might reinvigorate these titles.

AoA has been good? I guess I should give it a shot. :)

As for X-Treme X-Men: Just thinking about issue one gives me the hives. Unless things have dramatically changed with the series, I'm not touching it with a ten-foot pole.

In other NOW! news: I just finished reading Cable and X-Force issue one. I'm cautiously optimistic. :)

The book seems poised to help fill the hole that will be left by Remender's Uncanny X-Force, but it has enough differences to make it interesting. For starters, the team feels more like a group of highly trained professional soldiers than Wolverine's team did. It also looks like these guys are going to be butting heads with the mainstream Marvel U. heroes. The only gripe I had with the book was the art. It wasn't exactly fugly, but when you compare it to what we've gotten with All New X-Men and Uncanny Avengers, it falls WAY short. Still, the story potential makes up for the artistic shortcomings.

Anyone else check it out yet?

I read cable and x-force. Reminded me of a bad action movie on cable.

I have also really enjoyed AoA. X-treme has been poor and astonishing has been hit or miss.

That settles it; I'm going to give AoA a shot. Has the status quo changed much since what we've seen in Uncanny X-Force?

It has changed. I dont want to give spoilers if you are going to start from the beginning. Are u planing on starting from issue one (I bet your LCS will have copies) or picking up the most recent issue?

I'd like to jump on at the earliest issue after X-Force returns from the AoA universe in the Dark Angel Saga arc, and Wolverine & AoA Jean part ways. Is that where the current series starts? If not, which issue should I pick up?

Uncanny x-force 19.1 or something like that, and then age of apocalypse 1 onwards. There was a little 5 pager in marvel point one from last year but I don't think it's necessary.

I read the recent Cable & X-Force. Now, I'm usually on the side of liking Cable. He's definitly not my favorite but he's had some good stories here and there (sidenote: I'm a HUGE time travel story junky... so my interest really comes from that aspect. Anybody seen the foreign film "Timecrimes"? Ooh, or "Primer"! Good stuff.)

Anyways, back to Cable & X-Force #1. So far it is a miss for me. I know it is still in it's early issues but yeah, nothing about this has drawn me in.

I would expect starkly different reactions from fans of avengers academy vs people coming in fresh.
