Wanted to get everyone's take on what they listen to if at all when reading our love hate relationship of our merry band of mutants, or various other comics, or just what you like in genxreal. For me it would be anything classical that has a strong lead in a gripping middle and a somber fin. A just for instance would be while reading the Inferno crossover Night on Bald Mountain springs to mind as for whatever reason I would have Fantasia playing in the background but I thought the demons taking over New York meshed really well.

You'll guys get a kick out of this one:

Back when "Generation X" #1 debuted in November of 1994, I was rocking out to the Cranberries' "Zombie" from their "No Need to Argue" album which released in September.

Ever since then, Gen X was inexplicably linked to this Irish song protesting bombs and guns. A link made more surreal when my buddy Synch was later killed in a bomb blast.

What a cool topic! Back when I was a kid in the 90's, I was (and still am) a huge Metallica Fan. I would listen to the Black Album and I had a character for every song---can't remember them all, but I'll list a few.
Wherever I may Roam and of Wolf and Man---Wolverine, obviously right?
Through the Never---I used to picture Magneto and Exodus talking back forth in this song thorugh the lyrics---just try it!!
The God that failed---Magneto again
Nothing Else Matters---Professer X

I can't remember any others---but just give a listen with these guys in mind...

I tend to read my comics at night in perfect silence. But when I came back to comics from a long break in college I had two song playing in the background a lot while catching up to all the late 90's and early 2000's X-men run. Straylight Run's Hands in the Sky and Interpol's Obstacle #1. Both are kind of moody songs that fit with the angsty stories.

typically i read my comics in silence... BUT! i was listening to Deadmau5 when i read Uncanny 18 and AVX 11... Right This Second
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGV0gRYm0Yc
through Uncanny 18. and it synched up SO nicely. i took my time reading it. it's a seven minute song and you can burn through the issue in less than five if you're not careful. haha, but i LOVE how the intro sets the mood as magneto confronts cyclops in his utopia... the music definitely says, we're coming to the end of this story.
as the chorus of voices starts up, scott gets angry at magneto and declares, "i'm nothing like you! i'm winning!"
once we cut into the droning march, you're reading illyana and peter's interraction. she's gone crazy and the music certainly doesn't do anything to comfort you. this situation is hostile. then it gets a little quiet and colossus turns juggernaut and they sorta fight. she simply dodges him and says her piece and takes off.
then we cut over to scott and emma as the music picks up again playing the intro and that second part together this time. the dual layer works well with cyclops and emma both dining, and cutting to fighting and as the song comes to an end, so too does emma! bam!

next up on the playlist (i typically just listen to albums, rather than mixing songs)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnwfTHpnGLY
Raise Your Weapon.
this track also synched nicely with the beats of Avengers VS X-Men 11.
the beginning is a little somber, as the avengers, backed in a corner, come begging the hulk to join them and rogue tracks them down bringing the rest of the x-men with her. the beat starts up now that the teams are united.
then we're watching scott and emma, and she's engulfing them in flames as we hear lyrics about watching it burn burn burn... then we get some lyricless buildup as they seem to question where they're headed exactly.
we get a quiet moment as scott and xavier chat on a beach, and then xavier declares he's shutting scott down, and we reveal a DOUBLE SPREAD of glory as the dubstep kicks in. killer.
then we get pages of conflict as the dubstep continues it's assault. "how does it feel now, to watch it burn?" everything scott built! ...or is it... everything xavier built? final moments, scott turns on emma and takes her down turning to xavier as we return to piano. drops him like a brick! everyone's speechless! wolverine can do nothing, cyclops blows him away standing so cool. the music fades to silence as cyclops blows supernova and then in dead silence you turn the page to reveal, I am Fire and Life Incarnate! Now and Forever -- I am PHOENIX.
and for a moment, you have faith in this comic. then there's a tiny little "remainder" text of beasts words, "he's dark phoenix!" ...way to ruin the moment mccoy.

With the way technology is now a days depending your truly not that far from a device that can at least pull up youtube or an ipad cd player etc. But was expermenting the other day and this is just for an example but immersive and ambiance sounds have really brought me into a story for instance I was reading a real grime and gritty story the other day so I threw on some rain thunder and lightning to match the mood and atmosphere not only did it refelect the setting but it really brought the pages to life I have been expermenting with diffrent such as day sounds night sounds and a full range of weather to match certain settings and I have to say im not dissapointed one day I hope to make sound tracks for a couple of tpb the only thing that is bothersome is pacing but that will just depend on said reader and how often you need to change up your sounds/songs.
