A Small announcement

Postby kilg%re » Mon Oct 04, 2010 7:50 am

Well I've been keeping a lid on it for a few weeks now so that I didn't jinx anything but it looks like.........I'm going to be a Dad!!

The Due date is the first or second week of May next year (Is it wrong of me to be hoping for May the 4th?)

We've picked a couple of girls names but no boys just yet we're actually finding it quite tricky, probably because I keep pushing for geek names so Barry, Wally and Jay have been veto'ed along with Luke, Han and Obi-Wan but I might get Tiberius as a middle name.

Basically I'm bounching off the walls at the moment so if my posts get a bit flakey please excuse me and any hints/tips are always welcome

Congratulations!

For a boy, might I suggest . . . Steeven :)

But seriously, the wife and decided that if were to ever have another kid (which we won't :) ) and it was a boy, he'd be named either Max, Oscar, or Oliver.

One tip: Get as much sleep as you can now. It won't help you when you aren't getting any sleep after the baby comes, but at least you can sleep while you have the chance. :)

I am the co-host of the TWO TRUE FREAKS PODCAST . I have been alternately described as a "hellish jumble of mismanaged parts" and a "humble God".

Gratz on the big news!

My wife has agreed if it is a boy I can have Mar-Vell as his middle name. I'm trying to sell her on Logan, Xavier, Magnus, Peter, or Zauriel. She is warming up to Xavier.

I would just shoot out a few names and don't tell her why. Peter was out because she knows Spider-Man.

Thanks Guys

I promise not to get too boring and post nothing but baby photo's and stuff like that.

But you lot will be my unofficial support group, cos lets face it when it's 2 a.m here most of you will probably still be up and about to answer my sleep-deprived mutterings.

Congratulations.

As for names, I'd suggest Jacob. See, she'll think it's after Twilight, when in reality, it's after Jacob Kurtzburg (That's Jack Kirby's real name).

Well we're having the 13 week scan on wendsday so far it's still a bit odd as my wife has had no morning sickness or strange cravings. The only real difference is that she's sleeping more and has usually been in bed by 9:30 the last couple of weeks. Also twins run in her family (her mother and grandmother were both twins) and after my younger borther had twins we did some digging and apperently they run in my family as well so wendsday could be a real interesting day!

Man, twins would be crazy. Twins run on my wifes side (she is a twin)so I'm wondering what the odds are for us when we have a kid.
Well, good luck to you. Good thing triplets don't run in your family.

Any time my wife and I went for our 12 week ultra sound (3 times) the first question I always ask is, "there's only 1, right?" :)

I've always heard that twins skip a generation, but are usually carried through maternally, so the daughter or grand daughter would be more likely to have a twin rather than a son or grandson. I may be completly making that up though. Twins run on both sides of my wifes family, but thankfully we only have two boys (5 & 1 1/2)...They do look a lot alike though :)

About morning sickness, my wife never had it either. As a matter of fact she was 5 1/2 month before we found out....it's a long story.

Crazy thing is, a month before we found out we went on a trip to Ireland with some friends and we were boozin' it up on Guinness and smokes the whole time. We were hardly sober the whole trip. And since we were newly weds, we were going out every weekend as well. Thankfully my son is completely healthy and is pretty advanced for his age.

We joke about all the Guinness adds that say "Guinness for Strength" or "Guinness for Good Health". Ours is "Guiness for a healthy and intelligent baby".

So my fatherly advice...buy your wife a six pack of Guiness and some smokes...(Kidding of course)

Actually, sleep as much as you can now, and remember once you have a kid, life is no longer about what you need, but what you need to give.

It's all good and congrats. The best is when you can identify those little bits of you in your own child, the good and the bad.
See you in another life, brother!

Chris
