***MY SPOILER FULL REVIEW***



Saw The Last Airbender. I loved how they started off the movie with the sillouettes but after that they didn't follow it up like it usually would in the opening. Instead the opted for a Star Wars-esque text craw. Twas a bit forced with the main character's acting and with the emotions of the scenes, tons of story about them traveling through the Earth Kingdom cut out as well, except for Haru and his father Tyro(they didnt identify either of them out loud). That means no King Bumi, Ba Sing Se, and no showing the main characters that will define the rebellion in the Earth Kingdom(i.e. Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors, Mechanist and his son Teo, and Jet and the Freedom Fighters). But the martial arts and effects were aces(the best). I give it a 2 of 5 as an adaptation and a 5 of 10 as an over all movie because of the massive amounts of cut and forced scenes. Lets hope Book 2 is better edited and that the directors cut of this movie is better edited.

The other side of this is, who is this movie for?

Kids are coming out of the theaters LOVING it. The kids on my block are all choosing their elements and having a great time.

We might be disappointed by it, but the kids are loving it.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but my daughter becomes a "water bender" everytime she is in the pool.

Wow... I am halfway through Book 2 and I have to ask myself why I waited so long... This show is fricking brilliant, deep story, funny humor, great characters... and I will be waiting for DVD for the movie Airbender... do not want to taint what I have left to watch of the TV show. Damn... I hate it when Ebert is right

Yea. You're better off watching the whole series before you watch the movie. And one other thing that bugged me about the movie was that they didn't shroud the look of the Fire Lord. I loved that aspect of the character.

It was terrible. I swear to you that literally EVERY line of dialogue was a cliche. Seriously, after about ten minutes i was LOOKING for one original line-IT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN.
Inept is the only single word I can think of to describe it. M. Night SHAME-a-long-a-ding-dong has now officially released more crap than quality.

Love the show, Hate the movie. I really wished I never saw the movie, it kind of brings me down on the whole thing. It just shows me that MNS and every decision maker just don't get it.

I still have to take my daughter, as she has been looking forward to it was a long time. We watched the whole series together and absolutely loved it. I think of it as my daughter's version of what I went through with Star Wars when I was young.

And I can see what Ken's saying, but don't think kids will love any movie as long as there are shiny special effects and lots of action. They're smarter than that (usually). My daughter's seen some expensive FX with lots of action, and asked mid-way through if we can please watch something else because it's boring. I think kids are able to be less cynical though, and can enjoy more than we can.

The apparent suckitude of this makes my heart hurt. One of the best, most engaging and finely balanced all ages shows to come out in a loooong time and it is apparently terrible. Well, at least I've got the show.
