My least favorite, no surprise, is DS9. While it shares many, many factors in common with Voyager -- such as the fact that they both take fucking FOREVER to get going (4 seasons? Are you kidding me?!), at least Voyager DOES eventually get going and never stops once it does. Plus, it nudges way ahead of DS9 in the "I actually give a shit about these people" category. Every original character on DS9, with notable exception of Dax only because Farrell is SMOKING HOT, could have fallen into a meat grinder and I would've laughed. They all sucked. Hard. Sisko reminded me of every micro-managing, high-strung, ineffectual, self-important, power-tripping, whiney, asshole boss I ever had in my life. Kira, while semi-hot, was a bitch. Bashir needed a kick in the ass. Odo, while portrayed by an awesome actor, was shit. Jake was simply the Wesley of another color. Don't get me started on Quark (what a stupid name). I hate the goddamn Ferengi. Did I miss anybody? And if you're going to set your entire series in ONE locale, make it visually appealing for God's sake!

Voyager, while admittedly NOT the best crew, did have some truly likable and interesting characters. I came to really like Janeway. She's the female Kirk. I can't dislike that! Tuvok? Cool as hell. Harry Kim? Asian Wesley Crusher. Ugh. Paris? Eh, he was okay. Kinda like B'lanna (sp?). The actress that portrayed her is very good and a talented director. The character wasn't bad, just underutilized. Chakote (again, sp?) sucked. Neelix needed killin'. The Jar Jar of Star Trek. Ugh. His girlfriend? Good riddance. The Doctor? Eh. I like the actor, but whereas B'lanna was underutilized the Doctor was the focus way, way too often. And, of course, that led to the whole "holograms as people" horseshit.

But then both series did the "new blood" thing. DS9 with Worf and Voyager with Seven of Nine. Again, I gotta give the edge to Voyager. While I came to really enjoy DS9 once Worf came along, you could FEEL the resentment from the other actors that this guy was stepping in to prop up their sorry-ass show. And Worf, sadly, was underutilized as well. At least in the beginning. And when they finally did start to use him, it felt contrived. Like we'd either seen a lot of what they did with him before or they were just going back and wrapping up plot threads. Not saying it wasn't fun or interesting, but it wasn't exactly new. I enjoyed it, but I found what Seven brought to Voyager much more exciting. I liked the Borg thing with Voyager. It turned that show into what I always felt it needed to be -- a chase movie. It became the Empire Strikes Back of Star Trek. Hounded and pursued across the galaxy, the Voyager tries to evade capture by the evil Borg. I dug that. Wasn't always the best, but it was a helluva lot more interesting than listening to Sisko cry. Again. And again. Man, I wish they could've CG'ed Kirk punching him in the head in "Trials and Tribble-lations".

Anyhow, DS9, while exciting toward the end, is still a big, fat fail in my book.

Enterprise, while it had many, many problems, won me over eventually. The third season is some of the best Trek EVER and the flashback episode where Archer and his buddy play test pilots was AWESOME. Wish it had gotten renewed for at least one more season. It was going places.

I am the co-host of the TWO TRUE FREAKS PODCAST . I have been alternately described as a "hellish jumble of mismanaged parts" and a "humble God".

On your NCC 1701-D episode, I was laughing so hard between the introduction and the discussion of the off brand sodas. I was at work and had one of the ladies who sit near me laughing because I was. Also, a guy who sits a couple of rows over from me heard me laughing also. I had to turn off the podcast for a few minutes just to work.

I'm watching Enteprise on Syfy and I gotta ask, why no Howard Hughes love in the opening sequence?

Blue antenna aliens.

The only reason I asked is because 1930's aviation and especially Howard Hughes are a passion of mine, and seeing the main man left out is a bummer.

Unfortunately Dan, too many people only think of Hughes towards the end of his life and think of the man as a punchline more than anything else.

You goddamn know it, Luke, he revolutionized and quasi-jumpstarted aviation and was a prodigy. Hughes had his problems but as a whole the man was a true great.

I cannot wait to hear your review of "A Piece of the Action" that's one of my favorite episodes. I still remember when I was in jr. high talking all my Star Trek friends into learning how to play Fizzbin and playing it during or lunch period.
