One of my buddies just heard about "Salo", I've never seen it, and honestly, I don't want to, but nevertheless, I said I'd suffer through it with him when Netflix delivers it....

I just listen to this short story from the podcast Escape Pod and I knew that I had to post a link to it.

The story is called The Things and it is a story based on John Carpenter's The Thing but from the alien's point of view. It is a good story but it relies heavily on the listener being familiar with the movie and the characters in it.

Don't cycle too much of the Horror from him in a row, Get yourself Escape From New York or Big Trouble In Little China next and see what he does with an action movie.

OK, finally watched Salo. Its laughable, I couldn't take it seriously at all. Its like a bedtime story compared to A Serbian Film.

After watching the Thing last week, Netflix recommended The Fly. I am about half way through and I think this movie would make a great Vault episode. So gross...

I finished The Fly tonight, I thought the ending was intense but brief. Like The Thing, the practical effects were great. Goldblum was awesome, I can't think of the last time I saw a leading man go through makeup effects like that.

The Fly really is quality stuff. Check out the sequel, its very much a revenge picture, while lacking some of the gravitas of the original, it still manages to be a fun little companion piece to Cronenberg's philosophical take on the nature of flesh.
