Best Book of the Month: X-Factor #233
Lots of solid books this month, but X-Factor gets the nod for degree of difficulty. Two more characters get added to an already extensive cast, and yet PAD still found a way to give everyone a moment or 3, show the team working effectively as a team, and advance several of the long-standing plots.
Worst Book of the Month: Avengers X-Sanction #4
Nearly as unpreludy as "Prelude to Schism." Yes, there were Avengers and X-Men, but this was really just an excuse to bring Cable back - unnecessarily.
Cover of the Month: X-Club #4
Science über alles.
Character of the Month: Hope
She not only appeared in tons of books, she was front & center in multiple stories. And clearly, that's only going to be increasingly true.
Wicked Moment of the Month: "That's right! Tremble, puny soldiers!"
The rest:
Avengers Children's Crusade #9: Nice coda for the Young Avengers. Still confused about "House of M" ramifications.
Avengers vs X-Men #0: I think I was actually more intrigued by the Wanda bits; overall, didn't make me any more or less interested in AvX.
X-Men #26: Again - like how the X-Men are written here, but not keen on the story.
Generation Hope #17: Wrapped up the book about as well as can be expected. Wonder where amne-Shaw will turn up next?
New Mutants #39: A rare instance of a comic that made me like Warlock.
Astonishing X-Men #48: The plot structure was a bit odd, but the scene in Gambit's apartment was fantastic!
X-Men Legacy #263-4: The Exodus story wrapped up well in 263, and I enjoyed the focus on power-borrowing in 264 - Mimic and Weapon Omega are nice contrasts with Rogue.
Uncanny X-Force #23: This story was the opposite of "Dark Angel Saga" - instead of building logically and deliberately, we get a huge swerve at the end that undoes everything.
Uncanny X-Men #8-9: Still love the sci-fi vibe of this book
Wolverine & the X-Men #7: Brood story was decent, but the casino adventure needed a better ending. All that effort for no money, then in 1 panel Krakoa solves it all. Did someone decide it would be a bad idea to suggest gambling was a good way to get rich quick?
Wolverine & the X-Men: Alpha and Omega #3: Still love how everyone is (not) reacting to Quentin.
X-Club #4: More of the fun and zany science we've come to love and expect from this book.
Wait - Rictor was his boyfriend's mother's obstetrician?!?
