So far it's only Scott, Emma and Hope which believe it's coming for her, right? They all have good reason to believe it, given X-Sanction.

I think I understand Vision. Imagine if your wife murdered you (even if it was through a proxy). Excuse or no, it will certainly leave it's mark.

Avengers vs. X-Men #0 (Spoilers)

Postby DakenLeBeau » Thu Mar 29, 2012 1:15 pm

Isn't it supposed to be that Hope has created a Phoenix image twice now?

I do wonder if it's all a big misdirection and she's just patching into another mutant's powers when she manifests the Phoenix flare.

Yep at least twice. Although Emma was the only one to witness it the first time (if we're both talking about the bonfire scene in Second Coming #2)

"No. For once, tell me the why and the how. How am I different from every other mutant out there?"

Seconded. I would like to hear the answer to this one too.

I liked the two bits just fine on their own, but I'm not entirely sold on the notion that Wanda's story and Hope's story go together. Unless maybe there's some connection between the Phoenix Force and whatever it was that Children's Crusade said made Wanda powerful enough to cause M-Day. Actually, "hearing" myself type that out loud, that must be where they are going. The Phoenix Force destroyed mutants through Wanda on M-Day, and through Hope it provided a rebirth for mutants. Or something to that effect.
Wait - Rictor was his boyfriend's mother's obstetrician?!?

No that was because she's the Messiah who Bishop claims may destroy all mutants. I think the point of Hope (and this Phoenix story) is that she's either going to bring about the REBIRTH of the mutant race, or the DESTRUCTION of the mutant race. All the mutants know that thanks to Bishop and Cable.

When you look back, you can really see the planted Phoenix seeds. :)

I managed to fix it PSB. Apparently I just shouldn't try during 'peak times' around release day.

@Phillies Nothing is taken as fact without proof, and I don't think any of the characters are suggesting it's the only scenario. However it's the most likely scenario. If you put me in a room with a bunch of X-Men, I'd lean towards the mutant messiah who was born as an active mutant with the power to connect with all mutants and activate their powers, and who is heavily connected to the idea of rebirth and destruction and who has displayed phoenix powers and shares an uncanny resemblance to the former host.

Honestly Emma and Cyclops have witnessed her phoenix powers with their own eyes. Why wouldn't they think she's the host? I'm willing to bet most main x-characters have witnessed/heard about some essence of the Phoenix in Hope.

@Madrox I don't really know what to say. I'm pretty certain I see it. I also think Marvel expect us to see it at this point (hence all the digital sales listed as 'AvX reading material' concerning Phoenix stories, Avengers Dissembled, Second Coming and House of M). I mean Scarlet Witch is the only concerning party which ties to both A and X, but is neither an A or X. She fights for neither side in the war, but clearly will have something to say about the person who could undo her greatest evil.

I picked up this book and really wasn't sure what I'd get but I'm using it as a "getting back into Avengers and X-Men" series. I'm a team book kind of person, the more characters you throw at me the better. After reading this issue I was left a bit disappointed because it just felt like there was more I should have been reading and very little explained to "new" readers. I've been reading comics long enough to know you need to give new readers a place to come in on and feel like their on a level playing field with everyone else that's been reading all along. I didn't get that here.

I really didn't like that this issue was a "prologue" and was priced at $3.99. Not a very inviting price for a prologue issue. I really didn't feel like I got a $3.99 issue, but that's probably preference over reality.

I did like Cho's art, but I don't think it was his best. I think it was good, don't get me wrong, but I've seen a lot better from him.

I'm on board this book for the first 2-3 issues to see where it goes, and at a bi-weekly release schedule I should know soon enough if I'll be on board for the whole series.

Any book which comes with a 'free' digital code is $3.99, regardless of content. :( And I agree they left A LOT out, but they would need an entire book to explain the Phoenix and Dissembled ha.
